She hadn't even wanted to come out in the first place. She only intended to eat in the kitchen with Gail and Jack, but she still ended up being harassed by Jade and her son.
After Miles finished comforting Jade, he realized Quinn was no longer in the dining room.
He tugged at his collar, speaking with irritation, "Jade, let's eat. There's no need to wait for irrelevant people. I'll drive you back right after."
Jade smiled brightly. "Okay."
Once they left, Gail immediately went to get Quinn. "Ma'am, Jade and her son have left. Sir went to drop them off. Come out and eat."
"Thank you, Gail."
She'd be an idiot to starve herself. She wasn't going to suffer on their account.
After dinner, she went back to her room and proofread her translated manuscript a bit more.
Sitting in one position for so long was exhausting, so she went out to the garden to take a walk and digest her food while video-calling the two kids.
"Mommy, my brother and I are playing with Daddy. Daddy is so smart, he's even teaching me about music."
Miles had returned at some point. He walked into the garden and tried to call Luna, but no one answered.
Hearing a voice coming from across the garden, his expression froze. That voice...
"Mommy, my brother and I will be good. We're having so much fun playing with Daddy."
Quinn wanted to tell them not to be a burden on Ethan, but felt it might not be appropriate to say out loud.
"Mommy, my brother and Daddy are almost done with their chess game, and then it's my turn!"
No wonder she didn't pick up his call—she was busy chatting with Quinn.
He pocketed his phone and walked over, looking distinctly displeased.
Quinn was in the middle of her video call with Luna. Hearing footsteps, she tried to hang up, but Miles snatched the phone right out of her hand.
"Luna... good evening!"
"Miles, give me back my phone."
Miles was tall and held the phone high in the air, completely out of Quinn's reach.
When Luna saw his handsome face fill the screen, she leaned in closer. "Weird Uncle, did you steal my godmother's phone?"
She and her brother already knew that their mom was staying at Regency Bay for work, and that the Weird Uncle lived there too.
