The final rankings would be announced in three days, and both she and the shortlisted authors were invited to the award ceremony.
Overjoyed by the news, Jade immediately called Miles.
Miles was happy for her as well and prematurely congratulated her on taking first place.
"Miles, do you have time to go dress shopping with me today?"
Miles had originally planned to take Luna to look at preschools today, but after being flatly rejected by both Quinn and Yara, he was burning with frustration.
"Yeah. I'll come pick you up."
"Okay, Miles. I'll wait for you at home."
Quinn had also received news from Director Vance. The person who stole her translation was now competing for the top three spots.
He was just as frantic for her. If they didn't find solid evidence soon, the award would be handed to someone else.
Quinn went looking for Wayne, only to be told he had gone on a business trip and wouldn't return to Fairmont for a week.
Burning with anxiety, she called Wayne several times, but her calls either went unanswered or straight to a busy signal.
Seeing her so distressed, Yara grew equally worried. "Quinn, evil never wins! Jade is a thief, and there's no way she'll get away with stealing your work and winning that award!"
Quinn didn't want to dump her negative emotions onto her friend or make her worry further. Forcing a faint smile, she said,
"Thank you, Yara. I'll try to think of another way."
"What other way is there?"
Quinn thought of Hunter. If Hunter reached out to Wayne, there was no way he'd ignore the call.
At that moment, Hunter was handing Miles an urgent document to sign. Seeing Quinn's incoming call, he glanced nervously at his boss, who was sitting in the VIP lounge waiting for Jade to finish changing.
Lowering his voice to a whisper, he answered, "Mrs... Mrs. York. Why are you asking about Wayne again?"
Quinn now had Wayne's contact info, but since he had deliberately left town to dodge her, she had no choice but to rely on Hunter.
