She Walked Away With His Twins While He Begged the Ground She Walked On novel Chapter 32

"I noticed your live translation earlier. Your quick reflexes and flawless professional phrasing really impressed me, so I wanted to introduce myself."

"Hello, I'm Quinn Avery."

Quinn graciously accepted Mr. Knight's business card, offering a slight nod as she briefly introduced herself.

Hunter was scanning the crowd when he suddenly caught sight of a familiar figure.

He pushed up his glasses, barely believing his eyes.

Was that... Quinn?

He stood there, stunned. Cody had explicitly said Quinn was here acting as some rich woman's nanny. How on earth did she know Conrad Knight, a rising star in the top-tier tech industry?

Seeing him staring off into the distance, Cody, Jade, and Luke Lawrence walked over to join him.

"Hunter, what are you looking at?"

Following his gaze, Jade spotted Quinn. Seeing how strikingly radiant she looked today, a cold glint flashed in Jade's eyes. "Is that... Quinn?"

"Why would she be here?"

She added, her tone thick with implication, "Oh, I remember now. Last time at the Valérie boutique, she was with some bald, middle-aged man. Now she's with someone else entirely. Don't tell me this is her newest 'client'?"

Hearing this, Cody and Luke's eyes filled with mockery and disgust.

"Does she already know she's getting kicked out of the York family, so she's desperately hunting for her next sugar daddy?"

"Who knows if she's here to carry someone's bags or to climb the social ladder."

"She really will eat anything, won't she? First a fat, bald guy, and now she's hooking Mr. Knight. I really feel bad for Miles."

The last time Cody had run into her, she was accompanying a wealthy, overweight client, and he and Luke had ridiculed her mercilessly in their private booth.

They had only shut their mouths when Miles walked in.

Now, hearing Jade's twisted narrative, they were even more convinced that Quinn was exactly the kind of impoverished, promiscuous bottom-feeder they imagined her to be.

"There's no need for introductions, Mr. Knight. I have no interest in meeting irrelevant people."

A flicker of awkwardness crossed Conrad's face. Had he completely misread the situation? Was Mr. York not captivated by Ms. Avery just now?

At that moment, a waiter hurried past pushing a serving cart. Moving too fast, the cart nearly collided with them.

Quinn was forced to take a sudden step back, but a guest dodging the cart bumped into her, sending her stumbling uncontrollably toward Miles.

His instincts flared to dodge her touch, but out of basic gentlemanly courtesy, he reached out and gave her a brief, supportive steadying hand.

However, he instantly recoiled several steps back, avoiding her as if she were a contagious disease.

When he had caught her, Quinn had foolishly allowed herself to think that maybe he wasn't as coldhearted as she believed.

But a split second later, his look of utter disgust shattered her entirely.

If she had known he would react like that, she would have rather taken the hit from the cart than let him touch her.
