After bringing Wesley up to speed, a vicious look crossed his face.
"That bitch. First, she steals your translation award and embarrasses you, and now she humiliates you in front of all these people? Don't worry, Jade. I'm going to make her pay double today."
"But... isn't your plan a little too soft?"
Wesley wasn't satisfied. If it were up to him, they'd kidnap Quinn and lock her in an abandoned shed in the middle of nowhere for a few days.
"Wesley, we can't kidnap her. If Miles finds out, we're dead meat.
We're just giving her a little punishment today. Once Peter restores the data, she'll be utterly ruined."
"Fine. We'll do it your way."
Just as Quinn was heading back to her seat, a waiter clumsily bumped into her, spilling a glass of red wine all over the hem of her gown.
The waiter quickly backed away, apologizing profusely. "I'm so sorry! So sorry! It was an accident!"
Figuring it was just an honest mistake, Quinn didn't make a fuss and headed toward the restroom to clean up.
The waiter discreetly flashed an 'okay' sign in Jade's direction.
Jade and Wesley stepped out from the unlit corridor, exchanging a triumphant glance.
Quinn washed the stain in the sink. But when she tried to leave, she found the heavy main door locked from the outside.
"Is anyone out there?"
She banged on the door anxiously, but met only with silence.
The only sound was the loud, whirring roar of a heavy-duty industrial fan drying the carpets in the hallway, easily drowning out her cries for help.
She pulled out her phone, but there were zero bars. It was as if the signal was being intentionally jammed.
Her mind immediately went to Jade. She thought back to the waiter.

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
