"Yara is Luna's mother. By doing this, you're only going to break Luna's heart, and she will want absolutely nothing to do with you."
Miles's innate arrogance, born from years of unchecked power, usually meant he never bothered explaining himself to anyone.
But for some inexplicable reason—perhaps out of consideration for Luna—he actually responded.
"Quinn, do not pin things on me that I haven't done. If I did it, I wouldn't bother denying it."
Quinn remembered he had said the exact same thing last time.
Had she really accused him falsely?
"Then who was it?"
Miles's lips parted slightly. "Wesley is the son of Arthur Winter. The Winter Group controls a third of the educational institutions in Fairmont."
That answered everything. Sparks of realization flared in Quinn's eyes. It was the Winter family?
She thought back to the previous incident, where he had also denied involvement.
Still a bit skeptical, she asked, "So, you're saying the last incident was the Winter family's doing as well?"
"You're not entirely clueless."
Quinn clenched her fists, her glaring eyes locked onto the man in front of her.
"If the Winter family has a problem, they can come after me. Why go after Yara's job?"
Miles stood up from the couch, stepping within a few feet of her and looking down with an imperious gaze.
A hint of mockery hid in his eyes. "Because you are still legally married to me. The Winter family won't dare touch you, but your best friend doesn't have that luxury."
A suffocating wave of anger burned in Quinn's chest. From his tone, it sounded like bearing the title of his wife was some grand privilege she ought to be grateful for.

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
