"If you want to know what would make me the happiest on my birthday, it would be seeing those two little ones. Please don't let me down."
Quinn had just mentioned she needed to discuss it with Yara and would give her an answer in a few days.
Evelyn felt a twinge of disappointment. Rationally, she had only met the two children once.
Yet, an inexplicable, lingering attachment pulled at her heartstrings. It was as if something deep within her was calling out to them, making her yearn to see them constantly.
She knew it was a slightly ridiculous notion, so all she could do was politely ask Quinn to bring the little ones to her gala.
She didn't dare push for more, knowing they were, after all, someone else's children.
Miles couldn't bear to see his grandmother upset, so he accepted on Quinn's behalf. "Grandma, rest assured, those two little angels will absolutely be at your birthday banquet. I guarantee it!"
"What are you guaranteeing? Are you trying to force Quinn into this?"
Evelyn wanted to see the kids, but she also knew it depended on Quinn's willingness. She wouldn't force the issue and only wanted to respect Quinn's wishes.
Miles's expression shifted, his gaze darkening slightly. "Grandma, I won't force her."
He had his ways. Why would he need to force her?
Both Yara and Quinn loved money. If he simply paid them, those two kids would undoubtedly show up.
Though he didn't really want to go that route, it was his ultimate trump card.
Evelyn shot him a warning glare laced with annoyance. "You need to respect Quinn. Do not force her to do anything she doesn't want to do."
Miles's mouth twitched. When had he ever forced her?
If they were talking about forcing, who exactly forced whom?
That day in the car, when she was drugged, hadn't she been the one to force herself on him?
"Grandma, I'll take you home."
"There's no need. Silas is driving, so I'm fine. You should escort Quinn home instead."

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
