Caleb held his sister's hand tightly. His tone was perfectly steady, completely lacking the frantic edge Luna had shown. "Weird Uncle, there was a kid earlier who was pretending to be a cartoon prince."
"He was talking about Prince Florian, who has noble, handsome features, and Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid."
"That boy probably just thought his pretend prince was very similar to you. Like when you walked over, you looked just like a royal prince."
Miles's eyes darkened thoughtfully. Had he really just overthought the whole thing?
Was that kid really just doing what his mother said—projecting cartoon characters onto real people?
But he had explicitly used the phrase 'miniature version of him'...
"Weird Uncle, I want to go play on the slide. Will you come play with me? I'm scared of falling."
Seeing him lost in thought, Luna quickly shifted her gaze to her brother, then immediately pointed at the slide, desperately trying to create a distraction.
Miles's train of thought was instantly derailed by Luna actively inviting him to play. His tone lightened, laced with undeniable joy. "You want me to play with you? Then I'd love to."
"Caleb, you can come play too."
Quinn had stepped outside to look for the kids. A servant had directed her toward the playground, telling her the children were all over there.
She walked toward the yard, but the moment she caught sight of a familiar, tall silhouette, she froze in her tracks.
Miles was patiently playing tag with the two toddlers, his voice incredibly soft.
"Slow down, Luna. Don't trip."
She had never seen him wear an expression like that. His usually glacial features were completely relaxed. There was no cold detachment, no intimidating aura of authority—only an effortless, radiant warmth.
He looked exactly like a devoted, loving father, utterly engrossed in playing with his kids.
Luna pouted playfully, her sweet voice pitching up in delight. "Don't worry about me, Weird Uncle! I'm not gonna fall!"
Caleb pulled his sister along, and they climbed up the tall slide together. Miles stood at the bottom, arms outstretched, ready to catch her.
"Luna, this slide is a bit high. Go down slowly, I'll catch you right here."
Luna's eyes curved into happy little crescents, and she let out a cascade of bubbling giggles. "Catch me, Weird Uncle!"
"I want to do it again! I want to slide again!"

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
