Over the past few days, Leo had eavesdropped on his mother and grandmother's phone conversations.
They said his father was making that evil woman bring her wild children to his great-grandmother's birthday party. They said his father treated that wild child so well, he even set up a nursery just for her.
The thought made his chest tight with jealousy, so he threw a tantrum and demanded to go to Regency Bay.
He needed to make sure his father only loved him, only cared about him. That was why he was whining, insisting that Miles peel his shrimp for him.
Jade coaxed him softly, "Leo, be good..."
"No!"
Jade turned her beautiful, hopeful eyes toward the man beside her. "Miles, just peel a few for him. He probably saw fathers peeling shrimp for their wives and kids on TV, and he just wants to feel a little special."
Leo's eyes grew red, and he cried pitifully, "Daddy, don't you love me? All the other kids have their daddies peel their shrimp."
Miles, wanting nothing more than to eat his meal in peace, put on some gloves and peeled a few shrimp for the boy.
But Leo demanded more, whining that his mother needed to eat too, as if he expected Miles to peel the entire plate.
Miles furrowed his brows. "Gail, from now on, make sure all the shrimp served are already peeled, or just buy them that way."
With that, he pulled off the gloves and walked over to the sink to wash his hands.
He didn't return to the table, and Jade's fingers curled into tight fists.
"Why isn't Miles eating?"
Gail stepped forward, her expression blank. "Ms. Winter, Mr. York said he has an urgent matter to handle in his study. He'll eat later and told you both to go ahead."
Jade lowered her gaze, her heart twisting with resentment.
...
By the time Miles finished his meal and headed upstairs to his study, Leo was already playing in the newly decorated nursery.
"Mommy, I want to sleep in here tonight, close to you and Daddy."
Hearing that Leo was trying to claim the room he had carefully prepared for Luna, Miles's expression darkened. Why was the boy in there?
"Leo, you're sleeping in your mother's room tonight. This room isn't completely finished yet."
Leo didn't think anything was missing. He climbed onto the sofa, swinging his legs. "Daddy, the bed is already set up. How is it not finished?"
"Mommy, is anything missing?"

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
