She Walked Away With His Twins, While He Begged the Ground She Walked On novel Chapter 63

Susan had been fired by Miles previously, but she had gone crying to Judith to complain.

Seeing that Susan had worked for the York family for a long time and only gotten into trouble because she was following orders, Judith had allowed her to stay and work at the old estate.

Quinn's long eyelashes fluttered as she let out a heavy breath, a bitter ache tightening in her chest.

All it would have taken was one simple question, yet Miles and his mother hadn't even bothered to ask. They just automatically assumed she was playing some manipulative game.

Heh...

Grandma Evelyn swept her stern gaze across the people in the room. "Did you all hear that?"

"Quinn never told this old woman a thing about ending her contract marriage with Miles. On the contrary, she kept it completely under wraps. She didn't breathe a single word to me."

"Did you mother and daughter both assume Quinn was the one who blabbed?"

A rare look of guilt crossed Judith's face. "Mom... I... I didn't say anything about her. Please don't get angry; you need to rest and focus on your health."

Macy pouted and muttered under her breath, "Grandma, Quinn... she loves my brother. She's always wanted to cling to him and never wanted to let him go. It's completely normal for us to assume she didn't want the divorce, considering how she acted before..."

She shot Quinn a mocking glare. "Do you dare deny that you love my brother? That you want to cling to him and tie yourself to him for the rest of your life?"

Quinn thought back to how pathetic she had once been, feeling a wave of deep humiliation. She wanted nothing more than to slap some sense into her past self.

She had indeed done many desperate things to please Miles, hoping to use the contract marriage as a way to edge into his heart and make him look at her.

But that was in the past. She would never demean herself like that again.

Suppressing those humiliating memories, she met Macy's mocking stare with a cold, hollow smile.

Her eyes brimmed with sarcasm. "Listen closely, Macy. I do not love Miles anymore. I have never wanted to cling to him, nor have I ever thought about extending this contract to trap him. All I want is to end things with him as quickly as possible!"

"From now on, we go our separate ways and have absolutely nothing to do with each other."

The moment those words left her mouth, Grandma Evelyn's face turned deathly pale. She broke into a violent coughing fit that terrified everyone in the room.

"Grandma! / Mom! / Old Mrs. York!"
