At the entrance of Yavon Manor, Sergeant Major Harvey, having received the message, stopped the truck with a few soldiers for an inspection. Harvey took the delivery slip from the driver.
Several soldiers opened the truck's cargo doors and stepped inside to inspect it. After confirming everything, one called Lucian. “I’ve checked the shipment. It’s a batch of frozen seafood from Seagate City. The delivery was delayed two days because of bad weather on the road. I’ve checked the inside of the truck, and there are no issues.”
After the report, Harvey patted the side of the truck. “Take it to the kitchen for processing.”
The truck driver, whose honest face raised no suspicion, nodded. He drove the truck to the kitchen entrance, and the rumbling engine caught the attention of a woman locked in a dorm room nearby.
She scrambled up from the floor and stared through the window at the now-darkened truck. The cargo doors opened, and several figures unloaded a massive iron cage. It was hard to see clearly in the dark, but a faint silvery light glinted off the rhythmically rising and falling brown fur inside.
The cage was then transported up into the dark, silent forest.
…
After Loyce came down from the hill, Giselle arrived at the camp. The two met briefly to discuss Emma's injuries before heading to their respective rooms to rest.
Marnie shared a tent with Cyrilla. When she got back, she found Cyrilla huddled on the ground, silently crying, with the tent still completely unassembled. All the other students were halfway done, but their spot was just an empty patch of grass.
Cyrilla's helpless and pitiful state started to annoy Marnie, but she patiently began to comfort her, remembering that her family's business depended on Cyrilla to get a spot in the high-end ‘Futura-Silicon’ business district.
“It’s okay, Cyrilla. I already warned Loyce to stop dreaming about things she has no right to,” Marnie said, putting an arm around Cyrilla’s shoulders. “If Loyce has any shred of a wealthy person's dignity, she won't be the other woman between you and Mr. Shapiro.”
Cyrilla looked up at Marnie with red-rimmed eyes. “What did Loyce say?”
Thinking of Loyce’s condescending, fearless attitude, Marnie felt a surge of anger. “Her? Hah, she actually said she wasn’t scared at all and dared you to bankrupt her family!”
Cyrilla’s eyes widened. “Did Loyce really say that?”
“Of course,” Marnie sneered. “What gives her the right to be so arrogant? Her parents are probably dependent on the Shapiro family's two-billion-dollar business district to survive.”
