She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 970

He was lying motionless on the asphalt.

His dark charcoal coat was already drenched, the sleeve turning a sickening, heavy black from the blood. A jagged gash tore across his pale face, running from his temple down to his cheekbone. The crimson blood masked half his face, looking like someone had violently slashed a canvas with red paint.

Morris.

Helena's knees slammed into the brutal pavement. Her hands hovered, shaking violently, before she pressed them frantically against the gaping wound on his arm. Hot blood pulsed rapidly through the spaces between her fingers.

His arm lay at a grotesque, unnatural angle—clearly shattered. She was terrified to move it, so she just pressed down with everything she had, digging her fingernails into her own palms as she tried to stem the bleeding.

"Morris," she choked out, sheer terror ripping through her vocal cords. "Morris!"

He didn't move.

"Call an ambulance! Call 911 right now!" Helena screamed, her composure entirely shattered.

Swain sprinted through the crowd, taking one look at the horrific scene before fumbling for his phone and dialing emergency services with shaking hands.

"You're going to be fine," Helena sobbed, leaning over Morris, her tears mixing with the blood on his coat. "Do you hear me? You're not going to die. Morris, stay with me!"

The paramedics arrived within minutes. Helena practically forced her way into the back of the ambulance, leaving Swain with no choice but to sprint to his car and follow them.

The studio crew left behind in the plaza was in shock. Word spread like wildfire that the studio's primary investor and boss had been mowed down.

In the back of the speeding ambulance, desperate for a lifeline, Helena dialed a number she had sworn she would never use again.

"Hello? Loyce? I am so sorry to call you this late," Helena choked out.

Through her tears, she managed to explain the crash. On the other end of the line, Loyce's face instantly went cold. She shot up from her sofa. "Don't panic. I'm on my way right now."

Seeing her expression drop, Lucian Shapiro frowned. "What happened?"

Loyce grabbed her coat, already moving toward the door. "My brother was hit by a car. It might be a hit."

Lucian's eyes darkened. "I'll handle the investigation. Get to the hospital and make sure he survives."

Loyce sped toward Blossom Hospital. The moment the administration realized Morris Lonsdale was en route, the hospital mobilized the top surgeons from every department in Metropia.

The ER was on the first floor, but they bypassed it entirely, rushing straight up to the specialized surgical wing on the third floor. Helena ran alongside the gurney until a nurse finally blocked her from entering the operating theater.

It wasn't until she was forced to stop that Helena looked down. She was still trembling violently. Her hands were coated in dried, flaking blood, caked deep beneath her fingernails. It wasn't her blood.
