She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 790

"I almost died out there. Thank God your men arrived when they did. We did it," Karina said, sliding the ledger across the desk toward Hank. Her eyes shone with expectation, practically begging for his praise.

Hank merely flipped open the ledger, scanning the pages. Once he confirmed it was exactly what he needed, he closed it, locked it inside a secure briefcase, and gave his men a subtle nod.

Four heavy leather suitcases were hoisted onto the table and popped open. They were packed to the brim with stacks of pristine US dollars.

Karina picked up a stack, inhaled the scent of the cash, and leaned in with a bright smile, moving to kiss his cheek. "You're too good to me, boss."

Hank turned his head sharply, completely avoiding her touch. He looked up, his expression dead and cold. "Take your payment. At nine o'clock tonight, my men will put you on a plane out of Mexistar."

Karina's smile froze. "I never planned on leaving."

Hank let out a chilling, humorless laugh. The look he gave her was downright lethal. "This was a transaction. I don't blame you for playing the game. But you touched someone you had no right to touch. The only reason I'm letting you walk out of here breathing is because you brought me this book."

Karina recoiled, terrified by the sheer, unadulterated murder in his eyes. "This is the real you..."

And the only reason he was like this was because of that innocent little flower!

"Giselle never had to jump off that cliff, and we both know it," Hank said, rising to his feet. His voice dropped to a freezing register. "You should fall to your knees and thank God that none of this was real. Because if it was, I would have fed you to the dogs."

Cold-blooded. Ruthless. Absolute executioner. This was the true Godfather of the Costas.

A violent chill ran down Karina's spine. She grabbed two of the heaviest suitcases, turned, and practically bolted from the room.

With the Mexistar situation handled, Loyce prepared to return to Harmony Country to execute the final phase of her plan.

Before she left, Hank couldn't stop himself from asking, "When can I see her? Where is she living?"

"Hank, don't disturb her," Loyce said flatly.

Agony flashed across his face. "I'm just afraid she's not doing well."

"She's practically my sister-in-law at this point. If she needs absolutely anything, I'll be the first to help her."

Hank bit back the rest of his words and nodded. "I have to finish securing things on this end before I fly back. Call me the second anything happens."

...

News of Lucian's survival had been strictly suppressed by the government. The media was rampant with speculation, assuming the national hero had been tortured so brutally by Eastern Isles Kingdom forces that they couldn't even recover a body. The entire nation's fury toward Eastern Isles Kingdom had hit a boiling point.

The provocative execution video released by them, coupled with their arrogant, unapologetic stance afterward, had successfully ignited absolute national outrage.

The public launched massive boycotts against all their imports. Major corporations severed ties with their subsidiaries overnight, delivering a devastating economic blow to the export-reliant nation.
