Surrounded by the warmth and chatter of her family, Loyce couldn't stop smiling. She had endless patience for them, soothing their worries until everyone finally sat down for a long-overdue reunion dinner.

Morris, rarely one to pry, asked about her next move. "I know this whole ordeal with Lucian is far from over, and the Shapiro family is a mess right now. Do you have a plan?"

Loyce nodded. "Yeah, I'm going with Lucian tomorrow to get married."

The joyous smiles around the table froze instantly.

Forrest's eyes went wide. This had absolutely nothing to do with what they had discussed in their previous meetings. "Tomorrow?" he blurted out. "Wait, isn't this way too sudden? Why do you have to get married?"

"I just thought of it," Loyce replied smoothly. "It'll make it much easier for me to step in and crush Baldwin and his family." She left the table to grab a folder, tossing it onto the table. "This is the deed to the Shapiro estate that Grandpa Zeke gave me. The house they are currently living in belongs to me."

Zeke had gifted her the property back during the holidays, and now was the perfect time to use it.

Forrest realized what she was up to. "You're going to kick them out?"

Loyce smiled faintly. "It's my house."

So, what was the problem?

Everything was going exactly as she had anticipated.

Lucian couldn't stand being at the Shapiro estate. They had only been apart for a day, yet he had already shown up at the Lonsdale manor on his own.

Stepping outside, Loyce saw him sitting in the courtyard, soaking in the sun. She raised an eyebrow. "I was just about to come find you, but you beat me to it."

Lucian chuckled, looking up at her. "I missed you."

The sunlight softened the sharp, angular contours of his face. Loyce leaned down and pressed a kiss to his lips. "Then let's go. They should be open by now."

"Go where?" Lucian asked.

Robert opened the car door for them.

Loyce shook her head. "Lucian is riding with me. Robert, head back and grab his ID and marriage documents."

"The Admiral's documents?" Robert asked, confused. "Where am I bringing them?"

"City Hall," Loyce said.

Robert's eyes bugged out, all professionalism forgotten. "You guys are eloping?!"

It was incredibly sudden.

And Robert wasn't the only one shocked; Lucian was stunned.
