She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 824

Loyce turned on her side and suddenly let out a low, soft laugh.

"What's so funny?" Lucian pulled her closer, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

"Nothing. It just feels... interesting, doing this with all of them watching," Loyce murmured lazily.

Lucian chuckled, his chest vibrating against hers.

"They've seen empires rise and fall. One more show won't hurt."

...

With Ares Global's headquarters completely exposed, the coordinates for their scattered weapons factories worldwide leaked like a sieve.

Loyce mobilized every available operative on the island to sweep in and seize the now-leaderless manufacturing plants.

If the personnel were useful to her, she let them live. If they weren't, she offered them a chance to walk away. But if anyone dared to fight her for her spoils, she eliminated them without a second thought.

As the violent corporate takeover drew to a close, Loyce and her family finally returned to Harmony Country.

Lucian took her to see Yale Nash, who had been successfully extracted and brought back.

It was hard to imagine what kind of torture he had endured in the underground cells of Ares Global. By the time they saw him, the man was half-insane. Four of his fingers were missing, and his entire front row of teeth had been violently extracted. He looked absolutely wretched.

"He wasn't actually this crazy at first," Lucian noted coldly. "But when my men told him he had been dragged back to Harmony Country, and that every single dime of his offshore accounts had been frozen... his mind just snapped."

Loyce's lips curled into a humorless smile. "He spent most of his life hiding in the shadows just for this moment. Of course losing it all broke him."

"We'll let him rot in a maximum-security cell in this half-lucid state," Lucian said. "Every time he has a moment of clarity and realizes where he is, the psychological torture will be worse than the physical pain. It's a much crueler punishment than simply putting a bullet in him."

"My parents are watching from above," Loyce said softly. "They'll be happy to see this."

The dark chapter of Yale Nash was finally closed.

Meanwhile, the revelation that the Minister of the Department of Defense was an international spy inevitably leaked to the public. While Lucian was hailed as a national hero, bringing in a tidal wave of public adoration, President Harding faced severe backlash.

People began questioning Harding's competence. How could he fail to notice such a massive, catastrophic threat lurking right in his inner circle? Critics pointed out his recent string of poor policy decisions, and the internet was flooded with complaints.

When the data analysts put the latest polling numbers on the President's desk, he saw his approval ratings had plummeted by five points. All of those points had transferred directly to Lucian, whose popularity was skyrocketing.
