After a frantic, breathless kiss, Giselle lightly bit down on his tongue and forcefully pulled back. Reaching down, she snapped off the showerhead. Panting heavily, she glared at him. "Do you want your wounds to get infected?"
His injuries were definitely throbbing, but to Hank, the pain was completely irrelevant. Leaning down, he pressed a lingering kiss to her wet cheek. "Totally worth it."
Giselle pressed her swollen lips together, grabbing a dry towel and tossing it directly into his face. "Since you're clearly full of energy, you can handle the rest yourself."
She turned on her heel and marched out of the bathroom.
Pulling the towel off his face, Hank couldn't wipe the utterly triumphant grin off his lips. A few minutes later, he sauntered out into the bedroom.
Giselle had already retrieved the first-aid kit. She gestured toward the edge of the mattress. "Sit. Your bandages are completely soaked. I need to change them."
Hank walked over, sat down obediently, and offered her his ruined hands.
Taking a pair of medical scissors, Giselle carefully snipped the soaked gauze, unwinding it layer by layer. The raw, jagged edges of his wounds were still actively oozing blood. The stitched flesh was swollen and inflamed, radiating an angry, unhealthy red.
Pulling a fresh swab soaked in iodine from the kit, she lowered her head and began meticulously disinfecting the lacerations. The moment the stinging chemical hit his open flesh, Hank's fingers twitched instinctively, but he didn't utter a single sound.
"I've spent the last few years completely reevaluating myself," Hank murmured out of nowhere, his voice low in the quiet room. "I never had anyone else. I've been completely alone the whole time."
Giselle's hands stalled for a fraction of a second before she resumed wrapping the fresh gauze.
"Sometimes, I missed you so much..."
Her hands completely stopped. "Hank, shut up."
He shut up. But a moment later, his fingers subtly shifted, lightly brushing against her soft palm. Now that they had crossed that physical line, the dam had burst, and he was completely incapable of suppressing the overwhelming, desperate urge to touch her.
That single, explosive kiss in the shower had completely shattered the iron-clad restraint he had maintained for years.
"I can't control myself," he whispered, his voice incredibly husky and seductive. "Are you really telling me you haven't missed this? It's been years. Don't you want to touch me?"
