She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 182

The comment section was flooded with remarks like: [Our darling girl's skin is amazing.]

[A kind of lazy, fragile beauty.]

[Wanna kiss her.]

Lyra's eyes darkened. Did she really have to resort to such extreme tactics to gain followers? Furious, she immediately deleted the photo.

She wanted to hunt Caleb down, but he was nowhere to be found.

Thinking about how he and Kayla still hadn't made up, Lyra felt an ache in her chest. Kayla had been visibly depressed the past few days, and it was hard to watch.

Taking matters into her own hands, Lyra secretly ordered a bouquet of red roses under Caleb's name, hoping to cheer her up.

But despite all her careful planning, she miscalculated one crucial detail.

Kayla wasn't home. She had already packed up and gone back to the Harrington estate.

That carefully prepared bouquet never made it to her hands.

...

The next day, Caleb was MIA all day.

Since he was supposed to attend a luncheon, Lyra had to go in his place.

Fortunately, Madeline was going too, so they could keep each other company.

When Lyra and Madeline arrived, they immediately spotted Jasmine standing next to Rowan, talking softly. They were paused in front of a famous painting, and Jasmine seemed to be sharing her insights.

Rowan leaned in with impeccable manners, listening attentively with a warm, gentle smile playing on his lips.

It was a stark contrast to his usual cold demeanor.

When he smiled, he looked calm and refined, his presence exuding a quiet confidence. He wasn't flashy, but he commanded the room naturally, making it impossible to look away.

Lucas was also there today. As soon as he spotted Lyra walking in, a malicious smirk curled on his lips. He slowly pulled out his phone and turned the screen toward her.

It was the candid photo of her sleeping in the office, but he had maliciously edited it. A round pig snout, obnoxiously bright blush, and a pair of floppy cartoon pig ears were pasted over her face.

Lyra knew nothing good was going to happen the moment he approached. Seeing his screen, her face darkened. She pretended to walk away before suddenly snatching the phone right out of his hand.

She immediately changed his lock screen, deleted the photo from his camera roll, and cleared his recently deleted folder. She dodged Lucas while doing it, and Madeline jumped in to block him. The ensuing scuffle caused quite a commotion.

Rowan merely glanced in the direction of the noise before withdrawing his gaze.

But she couldn't blame him.

Lyra's abrupt movement had startled everyone in her immediate vicinity, including Lucas and Madeline.

"Who? What did you just say?"

Madeline looked up at her best friend.

To her horror, Lyra's face was as pale as a ghost.

Rowan, standing next to Elder Ward, turned his dark, unreadable gaze toward her.

Across the crowded room, Lyra instantly sought out Rowan, staring at him in sheer disbelief.

Their eyes locked through the sea of people.

Rowan noticed that her gaze was incredibly strange. It was filled with profound shock and an overwhelming, indescribable emotion.

Lyra looked utterly lost and terrified, unsure of what to do. Suddenly, two trails of silent tears slipped down her cheeks.

Rowan was genuinely taken aback.
