She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 203

Lyra's actions were truly baffling.

It was as if she had suddenly ordered the shutdown of Aurelius Capital just to start entirely from scratch somewhere else.

It wasn't that the business was failing; she had voluntarily pulled the plug.

She claimed it was to wipe their trail clean, completely liquidating the firm in one fell swoop.

And the new company they transferred to wasn't a fresh startup, either. It had been registered six months prior, clearly part of a premeditated plan.

"Isn't this illegal?"

On the other end of the line, Lyra laughed softly. "It's only illegal when someone else does it."

...

That very afternoon, Lyra went to the dentist. Lying back in the dental chair, she—someone with a terribly low pain tolerance—tensed up the moment the instruments touched her mouth.

Her pale little face scrunched up as she gasped for air. Gripping Madeline's hand tightly, she couldn't help but let out small whimpers of pain.

The dentist was Madeline's cousin, Sabrina Vance.

She wore her wavy hair tied back in a sleek, high ponytail and a large surgical mask.

Seeing Lyra's reaction, Sabrina paused her work, her eyes curving into an amused smile. "My darling Lyra, you'd better not whimper like that in front of a man. They wouldn't be able to handle it. Do you have any idea how gorgeous you are?"

Madeline chimed in from the side, "Forget whimpering. She literally clung to Rowan like a koala bear once, and the guy didn't even react. Lyra is drop-dead gorgeous, but Rowan is as blind as a bat. He completely ignores her, and yet he still managed to ruin her life..."

Sabrina couldn't help but laugh. Coming from a prestigious family herself, she knew exactly who Rowan was. He was the golden boy everyone admired—cold, brilliant, and incredibly calculating.

"Does Rowan really have that much self-control?"

Lyra lowered her eyes and stayed silent. Sabrina opened Lyra's mouth again and asked while she worked, "How old were you when you clung to him like a koala?"

Lyra wrenched her hand away from Madeline's grip and spat a mouthful of blood into the suction sink. "Sabrina, I'm begging you, can you please shut up..."

Seeing that Lyra was genuinely pissed, Sabrina finally dropped it.

But she couldn't help feeling it was a shame.

They were childhood friends, practically meant to be.

It should have ended happily for them. How did it end up like this?

"Alright, alright, my lips are sealed."

Twenty minutes later, Lyra walked out of the clinic clutching the left side of her face. Her head was pounding mercilessly. With cotton gauze still stuffed in her mouth, she mumbled to Madeline, "Your cousin never stops talking. Find me a new dentist."

"My cousin has a massive waitlist," Madeline replied. "Sometimes you just need to listen to some hard truths. Plus, she's an amazing dentist, and you won't need to come back that many times anyway. Just let her finish the job."
