She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 241

On the other side of the city, Caleb let out a breath of exasperated laughter when he found out the custom SUV hadn't even made it to their garage before Lyra gave it away to Caspian.

"Wow," Caleb scoffed. "Playing favorites with your new boyfriend, I see. All the good stuff goes straight to him."

Lyra smiled brightly. "It's just a material thing."

"It's a gorgeous car! It's practically got bulletproof windows," Caleb complained. "Why couldn't you give it to me?"

Lyra waved off his concern. "Honestly, it's really hard to get a kid in and out of that thing. I tested it. Even Kayla had trouble climbing in wearing a dress."

Watching Lyra scramble for an excuse, Caleb shook his head. "Can't I just drive it by myself? Do I always have to drag the whole family along?"

"You'd actually have the nerve to leave us all at home while you go out having fun?" Lyra planted her hands on her hips. "If you're going out, you're taking Kayla. No solo joyrides."

"What if I just needed it for work?" Caleb countered.

Kayla laughed as she listened to the siblings bicker. Still smiling, she headed to Delilah's room to call her down for dinner.

Caleb lowered his voice, his tone turning serious. "Be honest with me. Are you and Caspian actually a thing? Otherwise, why are you being so generous with him?"

Lyra shook her head. "He helped me. It's only right that I treat him well in return."

In her past life, after Lyra married Rowan, he flew overseas every single month just to see Jasmine. Later, he used the excuse of opening foreign markets to spend most of his time abroad. His mother, Victoria, silently condoned his behavior, knowing full well he couldn't let Jasmine go.

When Lyra had been entirely isolated and helpless in that house, Caspian had been the only one to stand by her side. Because of that, she was determined to be as good to him as possible now.

Delilah emerged from her room for dinner. Lyra pulled out the chair at the head of the table for her. Once they were all seated, Delilah spoke up. "Victoria called. She mentioned Rowan's engagement party is this Sunday. I've decided our family won't be attending. But when it comes to his actual wedding, we'll have to make an appearance. After all, they sent people to Caleb's wedding. It's only proper etiquette."

Caleb and Kayla nodded in agreement.

Delilah's gaze drifted softly to Lyra.

Her daughter's face showed not a hint of displeasure. Her expression was completely calm, almost indifferent.
