She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 270

Two days later.

It was 10 PM, and Jasmine's calls to Rowan were going straight to voicemail.

At the same time, Lyra was calling Caleb, who was out at a business dinner. Through the receiver, she heard loud, familiar voices in the background—Lucas Chavez and Rowan.

That was when she realized Caleb was out drinking with them again.

"Caleb, can you please stop hanging out with them?" Lyra asked helplessly into the phone.

Caleb's words were already slurring. "You know, your sister-in-law is way more understanding than you. Kayla knows men have to socialize and drink for business, and she never gives me a hard time about it."

In reality, Caleb hadn't intended to run into Rowan tonight at all. He had been entertaining a client, and shortly after they sat down, they coincidentally bumped into Rowan's group. They exchanged brief pleasantries, but Rowan casually suggested that since they were all there, they should just merge tables. The client was absolutely thrilled by the offer, so even though Caleb wanted no part of it, he couldn't exactly say no.

Without bothering to explain the details, Caleb rubbed his face and slurred playfully, "When you get married, don't micromanage your husband like this. If you keep him on too tight of a leash, he's never gonna want to come home."

Rowan was sitting just a few seats away.

Hearing Caleb's side of the conversation, he instantly knew the man was talking to his sister.

He lowered his eyes, taking a slow sip of his drink, a silent smirk playing on his lips.

When Caleb finally hung up, Rowan set his glass down. "What, your sister ordering you home?"

"Yeah," Caleb replied. He wasn't about to mention that Lyra had practically begged him to stay away from Rowan, so he left it at that.

Rowan laughed smoothly. "She sure likes to manage things, doesn't she? Doesn't want you drinking too much?"

Remembering Lyra's wild accusation about Rowan making a move on her, Caleb raised an eyebrow. "Why, Mr. Jameson? Do you have an issue with my sister?"

It wasn't an issue. It was an interest.

Rowan replied casually, "Not at all. I was just thinking it might be nice to have someone manage me like that."

Both Caleb and Lucas paused. Hadn't he already found that with Jasmine? Chuckling, Caleb said, "Sounds like Mr. Jameson is ready to settle down."
