She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 295

In just a few short months, the company's scale expanded rapidly, rocketing from a small startup to a highly-watched powerhouse in the industry. Everyone knew Rowan stood behind her, and everyone showed her the utmost respect.

When the camera focused on Rowan's imposing figure, Lyra wordlessly grabbed the remote from Delilah's hand and changed the channel.

Delilah shot her a knowing look. "Tomorrow, could you deliver a gift on my behalf? It's The Ward Matriarch's birthday, and I'd rather not go."

Ever since her husband passed, Delilah had kept a low profile, preferring to stay home. She often had Lyra step in to handle external social obligations.

"Sure," Lyra agreed obediently.

When Lyra arrived at the Ward estate to deliver the gift, the butler informed her that the hostess was on the second floor. She headed upstairs to find The Ward Matriarch. In all this time, she hadn't run into Rowan even once.

But as she walked down the second-floor corridor, she saw him.

Rowan was in a secluded, elegant lounge, personally accompanied by Mr. Ward and flanked by Waylon. The area was entirely removed from the noise of the party. He merely nodded occasionally in response to the conversation, his expression carrying that familiar, aloof composure, as if he existed in a completely different world from the bustling crowd below.

Lyra paused for a fraction of a second, quickly averted her gaze, and slipped into the women's parlor. After handing over the gift and exchanging polite pleasantries, she quietly slipped away.

The instant her silhouette vanished down the hall, Rowan seemed to sense something and looked up.

A moment later, he cast a cool glance at Waylon. "Aren't you going to go after her?"

"Go after her?"

"How long are you going to keep up this act? Aren't you two dating?" Rowan frowned deeply.

Waylon had spotted Lyra too. He wanted to say they weren't dating, but doing so clearly wouldn't do him any favors.

He stood up and headed downstairs. By the time he made it outside, Lyra was already quite a distance away.

"Wait, Lyra," Waylon called out, knowing full well Rowan was likely watching them from the balcony.

Closing the distance in a few quick strides, he grabbed her wrist.

Lyra stared at his hand in genuine surprise.

Waylon didn't actually have much to say, but his conscience forced him to offer a warning. "Rowan is fiercely possessive of the things he wants. If he ever starts acting overly talkative around you, you need to be very, very careful."
