Lyra decided Rowan had officially lost his mind.
This filthy man...
So what if he broke up with her?
Did he honestly think she would want a man who had been sleeping with Jasmine for the last three years?
Though she cursed him out in her head, Lyra didn't dare say the words out loud.
She didn't have her phone on her, and she didn't have a dime of cash.
If she actually pissed him off, she'd be walking home in the middle of the night.
Her gaze instinctively drifted past him to the waiters hovering nearby, mentally calculating the odds of successfully begging one of them for cab fare.
The waiters were looking at her too.
They were secretly marveling at the woman their VIP had bought out the restaurant for. Without a trace of makeup, her natural, effortless beauty was so breathtaking it felt almost unfair.
Rowan tracked her wandering gaze perfectly. His voice dropped to a freezing temperature. "Why are you looking at them?"
Lyra snapped back to reality. Meeting his eyes, she reluctantly offered an explanation. "I have nothing going on with Waylon."
"Then there's no need for you to break up."
Rowan didn't argue. He simply pulled out his phone, turned it around, and slid it toward her. A video began playing, showing her throwing herself into Waylon's arms, looking incredibly happy.
Lyra felt a flash of embarrassment. "Waylon lent me millions of dollars a while ago. I was just really grateful that he had my back, so I hugged him."
Hearing that, a faint, unreadable smile finally reached Rowan's eyes. "Were you always this reckless with money? You actually ran out?"
"Doesn't your brother give you an allowance?"
Come to think of it, there was a time when Rowan had heard rumors about Lyra auctioning off her prized designer bags and jewelry. But he had never imagined she was so desperate she had to borrow money from an outsider just to survive. "What exactly are you buying?"
Lyra took a sip of her drink, avoiding his gaze. "Why do you need to know every little detail?"
"I want to calculate your expenses and see if I can afford to keep you."
