She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 310

Victoria approached Caspian to ask if he was willing to marry Lyra. To her surprise, Caspian agreed without a second thought.

The very next day, Victoria paid a visit to the Fairchild estate to formally propose the idea to Delilah Fairchild.

Delilah immediately knew this sudden rush to get the two youngest to sign a marriage certificate was purely about securing the thirty percent shares. However, she found it strange that the Jamesons were pushing for it now. She had assumed they would wait until Rowan, the eldest, was married first. Was Rowan planning a wedding?

"We've never cared about that thirty percent, and we certainly don't intend to cash it in," Delilah replied firmly. "Marriage is not a business transaction. I will never allow our children to gamble away their entire lives over corporate profit."

Delilah rejected the proposal on the spot.

When Victoria relayed the rejection to Caspian, he simply shrugged.

He was young, and he couldn't care less about marriage either way.

When Lyra heard the news, she found the entire situation bizarre and unsettling. She drove straight to the university to confront Caspian.

Caspian was deep in his research when she arrived, politely asking her to wait a moment while he finished up.

Lyra stood quietly in the lab, her gaze drifting over his cluttered workstation. Suddenly, her eyes locked onto a small, clear glass vial filled with white powder.

"What is this?" she asked, though she didn't reach for it.

"Don't touch that!" Caspian practically shouted, looking visibly panicked.

He quickly snatched the vial and locked it securely in a heavy metal cabinet.

After thoroughly washing his hands, he turned to Lyra with a bright smile. "It's an incredibly rare chronic poison called Methylcyoxane. If ingested over a prolonged period, it severely damages the vocal cords, drops your red blood cell count to critical levels, and eventually triggers complete respiratory and cardiac failure."

The smile on Lyra's face turned to ice.

In her past life, she had cried until she had no tears left, eventually spiraling into severe depression and refusing to eat.

Ironically, starving herself had caused her physical symptoms to slightly improve.

That anomaly had made her suspicious. She secretly went to a private hospital for a comprehensive screening, only to discover that her blood was saturated with a chronic toxin.

Methylcyoxane.

A poison so obscure it essentially didn't exist on any market.
