Maddie's attention zeroed in on Zane.
Sensing her gaze, Zane looked up, a warm and polite smile on his face.
"Oh my God," Maddie gasped. "This guy and Lyra are perfect together. He's the one."
Leo had to admit Zane looked like a solid guy, but he muttered bitterly, "You can't just declare 'he's the one.' It's not like you get a say in the matter."
At the table, Lyra was looking over the menu until Zane gently prompted her. She looked up, spotted the two at the entrance, and waved them over.
"Come on over! We went ahead and ordered a few things. See if you want to add anything," Lyra said, sliding the menu across the table while naturally introducing everyone.
"This is Zane, an algorithm engineer. He moved back from overseas recently."
After introducing Zane, Lyra turned to him and added softly, "These are my friends, Maddie and Leo."
The group exchanged pleasantries, shaking hands politely. Zane carried himself with effortless grace, treating everyone with modest warmth.
Watching Lyra and Zane together, Leo felt a twinge of regret that she wasn't with someone else.
Meanwhile.
Inside a suffocatingly silent office.
Andrea stood rigidly in front of the desk, gently sliding a tablet forward. "Mr. Jameson. Miss Fairchild hasn't left her house in days."
"But today, Zane bought a car on financing and drove it straight to the Fairchild estate."
"The moment Zane arrived, Miss Fairchild came out to meet him."
Rowan's eyes dropped to the tablet screen, an icy shadow instantly sweeping over his gaze. With one glance, he aggressively rubbed his temples in irritation.
The photos on the tablet were crystal clear. Standing by the coastal road, the two were side-by-side, their body language intimate. They already looked entirely comfortable with each other, radiating an undeniable chemistry.
In just a few short days, their relationship had progressed at an infuriating speed.
She was even introducing him to her closest friends over lunch.
