Delilah hadn't left the house for social events in a long time, but today was an exception.
Mrs. Cromwell, a prominent and wealthy socialite in Seaborne City, had extended an olive branch, inviting Delilah out for tea and suggesting they attend future charity galas together.
The key detail was that Mrs. Cromwell had an eligible son.
Delilah met with Mrs. Cromwell for tea.
The two women hit it off beautifully. They enjoyed each other's company so much that, before parting ways, they tacitly exchanged their children's contact information.
The very next day was the weekend, and Christian asked Lyra out on a blind date.
Christian arrived at the café a few minutes early, assuming this would be just another mundane setup forced by his elders. He felt completely indifferent until Lyra pushed open the doors and sat down across from him.
His pupils contracted slightly. He hadn't expected Lyra to be so stunningly radiant. The moment she walked in, she instantly commanded the attention of the entire room.
"Am I at the wrong table?"
"Christian?"
They both spoke at the same time.
Lyra stepped closer and offered a polite nod. "I hope I'm not too late. Sorry to keep you waiting."
Christian quickly snapped out of his daze, standing up like a gentleman to pull out her chair. "Not at all. I just got here myself. I must admit, I'm just a bit surprised. I didn't expect you to be so beautiful."
They exchanged polite pleasantries. Running a gallery, Christian was well-traveled and culturally refined. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and Lyra found herself genuinely enjoying his company.
During their chat, Lyra happened to glance over the second-floor railing of the café, and her heart plunged into her stomach.
Down below, Andrea was crossing the street, heading straight for the café.
Lyra froze in terror, the color draining from her face inch by inch. She glanced at Christian across the table, tightly gripping her purse as an overwhelming urge to flee seized her.
Andrea was basically Rowan's most trusted subordinate.
But Andrea kept showing up near her over and over again.
