Seeing them get up, a calculating glint flashed in Elara's eyes. "Watch this. Let me give her blind date a little push."
With that, she slipped out of her seat.
Lyra and Christian made their way down to the first floor and walked slowly toward the café exit.
Just as they stepped outside, a frantic figure suddenly charged out from around the corner, barreling straight toward Lyra without warning.
With her back to the corner, Lyra was completely caught off guard. She had no time to dodge.
Christian, who had been talking to her, saw the collision coming. Instinctively, he grabbed Lyra's wrist and yanked her forcefully toward him.
The sudden momentum threw Lyra off balance, and she tumbled directly against Christian's solid chest.
Elara immediately burst into an exaggerated, mocking laugh. "Oh my! So hopelessly in love already. Why don't you two just get married now?"
Christian instantly detected the venom laced in her words.
Realizing that his presence had turned Lyra into a target for public ridicule, a flash of annoyance crossed his face.
He carefully let Lyra go. "Do you know her?"
"I don't. I'm so sorry for dragging you into this. She might just have a grudge against me," Lyra explained, not wanting his ego to be bruised. "Let me treat you to dinner to make up for it."
Christian waved it off, completely unbothered. "It's not your fault, don't worry about it. And there's no need to buy me dinner as an apology. You did nothing wrong."
He paused, his gaze softening. "But since it is getting close to dinner time, if you're open to it, we could grab a bite as friends. No pressure."
Lyra blinked and nodded.
She ended up joining him for a meal.
...
Later, Andrea was genuinely terrified to show Rowan the latest batch of photos, but she slid the tablet forward anyway.
"Mr. Jameson, the man Miss Fairchild went on a date with today is Christian Cromwell. He owns a few galleries and two houses, but his assets don't even come close to the Fairchild family's."
As expected, Rowan fell into a chilling silence after swiping through the pictures.
