The moment Lyra stepped off the last wooden stair, Rowan looked up from the sofa. His predatory gaze swept over her, a faint, almost imperceptible smirk playing on his lips.
Right at that moment, two couples walked through the front doors—the Ziegler relatives returning from the flower fields. Catching sight of the billionaire sitting casually on the sofa, they froze in absolute shock.
Recovering quickly, the two men gathered their courage and walked over to formally introduce themselves.
The girls with them practically had stars in their eyes.
"Since we're all acquainted, let's eat together," the landlady announced warmly as the staff brought out the food.
The men immediately insisted Rowan take the head of the table.
He didn't refuse.
A few moments later, Jasmine descended the stairs wearing a stunning crescent-white maxi dress. She looked elegant, aloof, and flawlessly composed.
Seeing her, the two girls practically squealed. "We knew his girlfriend would be here!"
One of the girls couldn't hold back. "I am a massive shipper of you and Mr. Jameson! You two look so perfect together, you're literally couple goals. There are so many fans online who ship you two!"
Jasmine smiled gracefully. "Thank you."
Leo interrupted, "Let's just eat. Rowan, what do you want to drink? We've got Six-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch, Five-Year-Old Berry Brandy..."
Rowan, typing a message on his phone, casually replied that anything was fine.
Lyra sat squished between Maddie and Leo. The Beef Consommé Madrilène was incredible. Lyra drank half a bowl, mentally making a note to ask the chef for the recipe so she could make it for her mom and sister-in-law back home.
Suddenly, Rowan set his fork down. Looking directly at the two fan-girls, he asked, "Are there any shippers online for me and Lyra? I'm curious what they have to say."
Lyra snapped her head up, realizing every single person at the table was staring at her in shock. Jasmine's heart plummeted into her stomach, the color instantly draining from her face.
Leo thought: *Boss, you're not even pretending anymore?*
*Lyra was in deep trouble.*
Maddie, completely oblivious, blurted out, "Oh, yeah! My cousin is a huge fan of your rare ship. She even has a bunch of old photos from when you guys were little..."
The next second, a spike of excruciating pain shot through both of her feet.
Maddie's face went dark as she glared left and right. Lyra and Leo had simultaneously stomped hard on her feet to shut her up.
Rowan arched an eyebrow. "Oh? What's your cousin's name?"
