As the dinner wound down, Zachary and his group enthusiastically invited Rowan to go sightseeing with them the next day.
They also extended the invitation to Leo and the two girls, hoping a larger group would be more fun.
Leo waved his hand dismissively, declining politely. "We already saw everything today. We won't crash your party."
Rowan also spoke in a detached tone, stating he planned to hike up to the peak to watch the sunrise and wouldn't be joining the group tour either.
Hearing he was going to watch the sunrise, everyone immediately assumed it was a romantic gesture for Jasmine. Not wanting to be third wheels, they quickly dropped the subject.
Lyra let out a silent breath of relief.
Rowan really was just here on vacation.
She had been paranoid for nothing. Returning to her room, Lyra tossed and turned, only managing to fall asleep late into the night.
The next morning brought clear blue skies. Leo had managed to rent a bright pink convertible for Lyra and Maddie.
They planned to take it out to a scenic spot.
The destination was a bit far, but the drive was gorgeous, and the mountain café served incredible coffee. It was a popular spot.
After getting ready, the three of them walked out the front doors, only to bump straight into Rowan and Jasmine returning from their sunrise hike.
Rowan was wearing a sleek black windbreaker, looking tall and imposing, carrying the crisp chill of the mountain morning. Jasmine walked close by his side, gripping a trekking pole, her face glowing with the unmistakable joy of a romantic outing. The moment she spotted Lyra, that happiness vanished instantly.
"Rowan," Leo called out. "Did you guys take the cable car? We did it yesterday, the view from the top is amazing."
The cable car went straight to the peak, offering the best vantage point for the sunrise.
