Madeline patted the bathroom door, her voice bright and cheerful. "Lyra?"
Lyra's muffled voice came from the other side. "Stop knocking, I'm using the bathroom."
Madeline didn't seem to care in the slightest, her excitement completely undiminished. "That show we invested in? It is absolutely blowing up right now!"
She didn't hesitate to play the episode on speaker, her eyes shining with glee. "I knew my girl had the best taste. I only threw money at it because you told me to, and now we are officially rich!"
The two girls who had followed her in immediately gasped in awe. The three of them made themselves comfortable on the sofa, their eyes glued to the lead actors on the screen.
"Wow, the leading man is seriously gorgeous!"
"Wait, is Josie Somerset the female lead? Her acting is actually so natural. The chemistry is insane!"
Madeline sat right in the middle, practically glowing with pride. "It's all thanks to my best friend that I invested. I hit the jackpot."
Inside the bathroom, Lyra's temples throbbed violently. A profound sense of helplessness washed over her, leaving only one desperate thought circling her mind: Please, please just leave.
She clutched her chest in quiet agony. Were they seriously going to camp out in her room and binge-watch the show?
While her mind raced, a sudden, searing warmth pressed against her waist. Rowan's hand had settled over her skin without making a single sound.
The blistering heat seeped right through the damp fabric, causing her entire body to stiffen.
In the next breath, the man's powerful arm banded securely around her waist. With an effortless lift, he hoisted her up and set her firmly on the cold, smooth marble of the bathroom vanity.
Lyra almost screamed in terror.
Panic hijacked her senses, and she immediately thrashed, trying to escape his grip, but Rowan leaned down and forcefully sealed her trembling lips with his.
He didn't stop until she was completely breathless. Pressing his lips against her burning ear, he whispered, "Let me look."
Before Lyra could even process his words, a sudden chill hit her skin as the man efficiently stripped the bathrobe off her shoulders.
