"Since you're awake, eat your breakfast and take your medicine," Rowan said coldly, his gaze sweeping over the two of them before he turned and left the room.
By the time Lyra went downstairs to eat, Caleb was long gone, and Rowan had already left for work.
Lyra let out a sigh of relief.
She managed half a bowl of oatmeal, took her pills, and borrowed Andrea's phone to call home and let them know she was safe.
Naturally, Caleb gave her an earful.
Andrea chuckled listening in.
After hanging up, Andrea said, "Your car was totaled, but Mr. Jameson got the money back for it. It was worth millions of dollars, right? He squeezed that exact amount out of the Ford family and had them all driven back to Irving City."
Lyra's spine stiffened. The revenge she had wanted all along had actually happened.
What she couldn't achieve in her past life had been accomplished now.
But Rowan had destroyed her crown, and she would never forgive him for that.
Lyra asked, "The Fords must be extremely desperate for cash right now, right?"
"Most likely."
"Good," Lyra smiled softly.
...
The Ford family had driven through the night back to Irving City and were currently holed up in a cheap motel.
Thinking they would never return, they had sold their old home years ago, leaving them with nowhere to go.
Fortunately, Finn was staying in the school dormitories.
With Finn at school, the rest of the family barely managed to afford two rooms to share. Grandma Ford sighed constantly, mourning how their perfectly comfortable lives had spiraled into this nightmare.
Because Jasmine had intentionally destroyed Lyra's luxury car, she was ordered to pay millions in damages. Cash-strapped, she was forced to sell off her own vehicles to cover the debt. The detached mansion in Seaborne City had been purchased years ago by draining their savings and taking on a massive mortgage.
