She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 536

"Grandpa Jameson, you forgot. I'm actually dating Cas—"

Before Lyra could finish her sentence, her wrist was grabbed and her palm was empty.

Rowan had snatched her phone. He spoke smoothly into the receiver to smooth things over. "It's nothing, Grandpa. She misspoke."

Hanging up, he looked down at Lyra, his tone laced with a cold hostility. "You're deliberately causing trouble even in front of my grandfather. When are you going to stop?"

Lyra felt a suffocating tightness in her chest. She met his gaze directly and countered, "I should be the one asking you that, Rowan. What exactly are you trying to do?"

"Marry you."

"I would never marry you! I'd rather die."

Rowan's gaze turned somber. "I've heard that in your situation, playing dead is a popular trope on TV nowadays. I'd strongly advise against it. Whether you really die or just fake it, if you try anything, I will make sure your twin nephew and niece pay the ultimate price."

"This body of yours belongs to you, but it's also mine."

"You... you..." Lyra was so angry her chest ached. She clutched her stomach, feeling a dull cramp.

Noticing her discomfort, Rowan pulled her onto his lap as he sat in the chair. His grip was undeniable, holding her firmly against him as his hand settled over her stomach, rubbing gently. "Does it hurt here?"

A thought seemed to cross his mind. His lips brushed against her cheek. "Are you feeling empty? Do you want it?"

Lyra's face flushed a furious crimson. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Andrea step out of the adjacent room.

Rowan's expression darkened instantly. "What are you doing here?"

Andrea marveled silently. To think the boss hadn't even noticed someone else was in the room—he had truly been lost in the moment. So this was the real Rowan Jameson, alternating between threats and dirty talk, a complete departure from his usual composed and ruthless public persona. It was jarring.

"I was working over here," Andrea said, pretending she hadn't heard a thing.

Kayla walked in just then. Seeing Rowan's arms locked tightly around Lyra, who was perched on his lap, while Andrea stood nearby looking like a deer in headlights, she found the atmosphere incredibly weird.
