"I drove the sports car he gave me back here. The keys are right here."
Lyra leaned forward slightly and placed the car keys on the table.
Victoria's expression darkened at Lyra's words.
"Lyra, do you have any idea how many wealthy heiresses are fighting tooth and nail to marry Rowan? How many families are desperate to align themselves with the Jamesons? Yet here you are, completely ungrateful."
She glanced at the keys on the table, her tone growing harsher. "Rowan is giving you his whole heart. Sports cars, gifts—he brings every valuable thing right to your feet. He has a cold personality, but he's pouring all his effort into you. Even your mother agreed to this. But instead, you run to Grandpa just to stir up trouble, picking apart his every flaw..."
Alistair quickly waved his hand. "Enough. Let Lyra finish."
Lyra spoke firmly. "Victoria, he hasn't only poured his effort into me. He treated Jasmine even better in the past. And his affection now... I simply don't want it. I hope you'll all stop trying to push us together."
With that, Lyra stood up.
"You..." Victoria was at a loss for words. Just as she was about to snap back, a gentle male voice interrupted.
"What's going on with everyone?"
It was Caspian returning from outside.
Victoria had been so focused on unleashing her anger at Lyra that she had forgotten Caspian had the day off. At the sound of his voice, she bit back her words. Everyone's expressions shifted, and the room instantly fell silent.
"Lyra, who are they trying to set you up with?" Caspian's chilling voice cut sharply through the quiet living room.
"Cas..." Lyra stammered, suddenly nervous.
Alistair, however, spoke openly. "Cas, your brother and Lyra are getting married."
"My brother?" Caspian raised his voice in disbelief. "How could my brother and Lyra get married? He's never liked her. Why would he..."
He turned to look at Lyra, whose face had gone pale, the hostility in his eyes dialing back a fraction. "Lyra, tell me what's going on."
"Cas..." Lyra looked at Caspian, seeing the faint despair shadowing his features. She reached out, taking his hand, and looked back at Alistair. "Grandpa Jameson, I am Caspian's girlfriend."
