She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 560

"When I got here, the house was already empty," he said quietly.

Lyra froze. It suddenly dawned on her that today was the day the twins were scheduled for their vaccinations.

As for the kitchen staff, they were likely out buying groceries.

Rowan's thumb gently stroked her pale knuckles, his gaze softening with profound heartache. "Are you still in pain?" he asked in a low voice.

Lyra took a slight step back, forcing a bewildered expression. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Rowan's gaze turned somber, slicing right through her facade. "You were pregnant with my baby, and you went to the hospital to get an abortion."

Sabrina had warned her that Rowan already knew.

All the way here, Lyra hadn't known how she was going to face him.

Fortunately, her passport had just arrived. She had planned to avoid him entirely and catch the next flight out of the country.

But she never expected to find him standing right here in her own home.

"We need to talk." He stared at her intently for a moment before reaching out, pulling her firmly against his chest.

"Lyra, do you really hate me that much? How could you bear to get rid of our baby?"

"Is it because I didn't get down on my knees and beg for your forgiveness when you came to Blackwood Manor? Is that why you killed my child?"

He stared at the delicate curve of her neck, fighting the predatory urge to sink his teeth into her skin. He knew every inch of her body, and he could feel exactly how rigid she had become in his arms.

But then Lucas's words echoed in his mind.

She wants a man who is gentle, steady, and forgiving.

She had even willingly embraced Jayden Ward.

Rowan closed his eyes, forcing down his darker, more destructive impulses. "We'll nurse you back to health. And later down the line, we can have another baby, okay?"

Before he could even finish his sentence, the sharp crack of a slap echoed through the room.

Lyra's hand connected hard with his cheek. Her eyes were instantly rimmed with red, and her voice shook uncontrollably.

"In our past life, we got married, and you were disgusted by me. You even abandoned me to Lucas."
