She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 695

"But... what the hell is he doing here?" Rowan stopped in his tracks, his brow furrowing as he glared back toward the courtyard. His eyes locked onto Jayden, who was lingering at the back of the group.

To his absolute horror, Jayden was holding Pip, smiling as he and Sabrina played with his son.

"Jayden?" Lyra blinked, suddenly remembering a crucial piece of information she had forgotten to share. "He's dating Sabrina now."

Rowan narrowed his eyes. "I recall Sabrina constantly declaring herself Pip's godmother. Does that mean Jayden..."

"Yeah," Lyra admitted, impressed he had connected the dots so quickly. "He's probably going to be the godfather."

Rowan stared at her, his voice turning glacial. "I don't think they're a good match."

Pip only needed one father.

Furthermore, as he studied his wife's stunning profile, he couldn't fathom how a man like Jayden could be genuinely interested in someone as eccentric as Sabrina. The guy clearly had an ulterior motive.

Lyra wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her cheek against his warm chest. Listening to the steady, comforting beat of his heart, she spoke softly. "I'm done causing trouble. Can you please stop picking fights too?"

Breathing in the delicate scent of her shampoo, the icy glare in Rowan's eyes melted into a profound softness. "Alright," he murmured.

No sooner had the word left his mouth than the sound of footsteps echoed as their friends and family piled into the house, chattering loudly.

The couple instantly sprang apart. Lyra took a quick step back, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear and turning away to look busy. Rowan tore his gaze from her, his expression instantly snapping back to his usual cool, unbothered facade.

A few of the guests caught the tail end of their embrace and exchanged knowing smirks.

Maddie strolled over with a wide grin, looking between the two of them. "Well, it seems like surviving a near-death experience did wonders for your marriage."

Sabrina nodded in agreement. "Facing death tends to make people appreciate each other more."

Standing next to his girlfriend, Jayden smiled gently, turning to look at Lyra.

He abruptly cut himself off.

His eyes darted over her shoulder, landing on the front porch. Rowan was standing there holding Pip, his tall, imposing figure perfectly still as he watched them from afar. Even from that distance, the sheer, suffocating weight of his presence was unmistakable.

The rest of Marcus's sentence died in his throat.

Lyra followed his gaze, then quickly looked back at him, cutting him off with a soft but firm tone. "It's not what you think."

"Marcus, Pip is just the cutest thing. Let me go grab him so you can hold him."

"Don't bother," Marcus said, stopping her. "I'm a little too rough around the edges to be handling babies."

Pip was the golden child of the Jameson empire, after all. Marcus was terrified of accidentally dropping him; even if the Jamesons didn't say anything, their glares would be enough to kill him.
