Over dinner, Delilah was chatting with Charles and Victoria when Caspian's name inevitably came up.
Delilah knew the history. Caspian's biological mother had once saved Victoria from a terrible car crash. Out of sheer gratitude, Victoria had maintained a close bond with her, and when tragedy struck Caspian's family, she took the boy in and raised him as her own. She had always loved him like a second son.
"Caspian has been transferred to California for treatment," Victoria explained. "A top-tier medical team over there has taken over. We can only pray they isolate the toxin soon."
Bringing it up made Victoria let out a heavy sigh, exhaustion lining her features. "That woman is an absolute viper. She fooled every single one of us. Who could have guessed that someone who looked so perfect on the outside could harbor such pure malice?"
Lyra ate in silence. She had always known Jasmine was dangerously obsessed with Rowan, unable to let him go. She expected the woman to come after her, but poisoning Caspian was a level of cruelty she hadn't anticipated.
Rowan's lips pressed into a grim line. Based on the updates he had received from the American doctors, he knew Caspian's condition was far from stable.
After dinner, the remaining family members gradually said their goodbyes and departed the estate.
Lyra took a hot shower and went into the nursery to play with Pip.
Rowan brought up a plate of fresh fruit. He stood in the doorway, watching her bright smile for a moment before speaking. "Lucas mentioned you wanted to borrow his wife's ID to go traveling. Where were you planning to go?"
"Anywhere, really. There's beauty wherever you go," she replied, lightly tapping Pip's tiny nose. Her only real goal had been to stay with her son.
Rowan set the plate down. "I'll make some arrangements. I'll step away from the company for a bit and take you and the baby on a proper vacation."
She looked up, utterly bewildered. "You haven't even recovered yet."
"It doesn't matter."
Rowan shifted the baby to his hip and looked at her. "While you were gone, I used my privileges to check your bank accounts, hoping you had spent something, anything. That's when I found your charity funds. You set up automatic monthly transfers to various causes so you wouldn't even have to manage them. If I hadn't scoured your statements, I never would have known."
It was precisely because there was zero activity on her cards beyond those automated payments that he became utterly convinced she and the baby were dead, driving him to total despair.
His mind briefly flickered to someone else.
Jasmine had also played the philanthropist, but every single donation she made was accompanied by a massive PR campaign. Everyone knew about her charity work. She leveraged interviews, press releases, and social media to farm public goodwill and build her own fame.
In stark contrast, Lyra quietly wired massive sums out of her own pocket without a single word. Not only was Rowan clueless, but even her own brother Caleb had never heard her mention it.
"Since we're married, consider me a silent partner in your little foundation."

okay...
rowan...
What Rowan did in his past life was horrific, and I’m not excusing it, but he truly did everything he could in his second life to repent and atone for what he did to Lyra. At some point, there has to be room for forgiveness and grace. If someone spends their entire life trying to make amends and become a better person, then what does redemption mean if we never allow them a chance to be forgiven? Even someone who has done terrible things deserves the possibility of redemption, and honestly, I want Rowan to be happy too!...
