She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 704

Though Rowan had remained silent at the time, the seed of doubt had been planted.

So many misunderstandings that could have easily been resolved were instead buried deeper and deeper.

"Is there anything else?" Lyra frowned, watching Waylon stop her but stay completely silent.

Seeing that their time was up and the guard was approaching, Waylon rushed to speak. "I was the one who caused the Fairchild family's bankruptcy."

Lyra was stunned. "What?"

"I was the one who pushed Fairchild Holdings over the edge. When Rowan targeted your company, he only stripped away your exclusive upstream supply chain and the established national distribution network. Losing those two arteries severely crippled the company, but you still had a chance to survive, to restructure your assets. It was me who acted in the shadows. I forged breach-of-contract evidence against the suppliers, incited your partners to terminate their contracts en masse, leaked internal financial vulnerabilities to trigger a stampede of debt collectors, spread rumors of executive corruption to crash your stock overnight, and then stirred up your own employees to riot."

"Y-you're lying..." Lyra turned deathly pale. "Rowan gave my family's core R&D team to Jasmine's father's company."

"I won't deny he took your distribution network, but the Jameson Group already had a top-tier R&D division. He didn't need to poach your team to help Jasmine."

Lyra refused to believe it. "W-why would you do that?"

"Every time I landed a blow on your company, I waited. I thought that once you hit a dead end, you would have no choice but to come to me and beg for help. But you never did. Even when your family desperately needed millions of dollars to cover that massive deficit, you went to Leo Chavez. You never came to me, not once. I was the one who forced Fairchild Holdings into a corner and refused to leave a single way out."

Waylon's gaze grew unfathomably dark. "I still haven't figured out whether the trigger for our rebirth was Rowan... or me. What if the key to this second chance is tied to my life? If I die, I die. But you had better pray I live a long life, because that might be the only way you get to keep this hard-won peace..."

Waylon hung up the receiver and stood to walk back to his cell. Lyra pounded furiously on the glass until the guard approached, ordering her to quiet down and informing her the visit was over.

Waylon suddenly turned back and shouted, "Before Rowan killed himself, he set up a Testamentary Trust! He left his entire fortune to your nephew!"

In the end, Rowan had been suffocated by regret. It had been his way of making amends to the fallen Fairchild family, securing the future for their last remaining bloodline.
