Chapter 1012
Everyone present had heard of Jamie’s methods, but seeing them firsthand made stomachs turn.
Worse still, the victim was one of their own. In that instant, the Kalen family’s faces fell into dark, ugly masks.
Victoria frowned and averted her eyes from the screen. She could not bring herself to watch.
Only Johanna watched with a grim satisfaction; Wendy’s eyes reddened as her hatred of Jamie flared anew. She clenched her fists so hard she nearly burst forward to curse him, holding herself back with an effort that left her trembling.
Time both raced and stretched; the scene felt like torture for every single person in the room.
At last, the footage stopped. The private theater was so quiet it seemed to hold its breath.
Thomas’s voice cut through the hush. “Now, do you still think Sharon falsely accused Jamie?”
No one answered. The air seemed to thicken. The expressions among the Kalen family shifted from shock and disbelief to anger and tangled shame.
Thomas paid them no mind. He did what needed doing.
“Per our agreement, all cooperation between the Kalen and Walton families is terminated effective immediately. Jamie, you’ve lost the bet. Any final words?”
Jamie’s face had gone ashen and cruel, a terrifying stillness in his eyes. He stared at Thomas, voice hard. “How did you get this footage?”
Rage burst from Richard as if ignited. “Jamie, you cold-blooded monster!” (1
He sprang from his seat, fury blazing. “How dare you treat Sharon like this? I’ll cut you down myself!”
The three Kalen brothers snapped back to full alert, their gazes hard and cold on Jamie. He had crossed a line.
Even if they wanted to teach Sharon a lesson-intimidate her, slap her, threaten her friend Wendy- they would never have condoned this. 1
To harm Sharon openly, to cripple her hand-that was monstrous.
Worse still, he’d been reckless enough to have it recorded, to hand them a weapon they could use against him.
