Since You Chose Your 'Bro' I Married Your Brother novel Chapter 43

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

After that, Gabriel and I had this unspoken understanding to never mention Sera again.

Every time Gabriel came to eat, he’d bring me little gifts-sometimes just wildflowers he’d spotted on his way over, other times gorgeous jewelry from whatever new designer had caught his eye.

When I’d accept his presents, I’d give him a hard time:

“You used to pay me 800K a year to cook for you. Now you’re paying for meals AND bringing me presents. Pretty sure you’re dropping way more than 800K at this point.”

He’d get this soft smile: “Worth every penny if it makes you happy.”

When our eyes would meet like that, my heart would do these annoying little flips.

After six months of Gabriel showing up every single day, he walked in one evening carrying this absolutely massive bouquet of red roses.

I didn’t reach for them right away: “You do realize what this mean, right?”

Gabriel nodded: “It means I’m ready to put you in charge of all my finances. So… you interested?”

I mean, who’s gonna turn down financial control?

I grinned and took the flowers.

Things moved crazy fast after that. Before I knew it, we were planning our wedding.

We went for a beautiful sunny Saturday, inviting close friends, family, and all my restaurant regulars.

I was getting my hair and makeup done in the bridal suite when the butler got all emotional:

“You have no idea how relieved I was when Mr. Stone announced he was marrying you instead of… well, you know. My future actually looks bright now!”

He was clearly remembering my warning about what life would be like if Gabriel married Sera.

That’s when it hit me-I hadn’t thought about Sera in months.

Of course, the universe has a sick sense of humor, because right as Gabriel and I were about to exchange rings, the chapel doors exploded open.

Chapter 8

Sera came barreling in looking like she’d escaped from a psych ward-hair everywhere, eyes completely manic, gripping some kind of glass bottle.

“Summer! You shameless homewrecker! First you turn Gabe against me, and now you’re completely ruining his grovel-for-forgiveness arc by stealing his wedding! You need to die!”

She screamed and charged straight at me, bottle raised to throw.

The stuff inside was definitely acid!

Thankfully Gabriel had seen this coming and hired security. They body-slammed her before she could get close.

Even with three guys holding her down, Sera kept losing her mind:

“This isn’t how it’s supposed to go! I’m the fucking heroine! Gabe and I are supposed to work through our drama and

get our happily ending! Why is everything so wrong?!”

Cops showed up within minutes and hauled her away in cuffs.

Watching her get dragged out while having a complete psychotic break, I sighed.

Even now she was still trapped in her delusional romance novel, completely detached from reality.

Staring at the acid bottle on the floor, Gabriel grabbed my hands, still shaking:

“Jesus, are you hurt? Tell me you’re okay.”

“I’m totally fine,” I squeezed back, even managing to laugh. “You know, Sera always insisted she was the tragic first love and you were her leading man. Please tell me that’s not actually true.”

“Because honestly? Gabriel Stone? That’s like, peak romance novel hero name right there.”

Gabriel laughed and touched my cheek:

“Even if I am some romance hero, you’re the only leading lady I want.”

We looked into each other’s eyes and finally exchanged rings while everyone cheered.

Married life was everything I’d hoped for-simple, warm, perfect.

Gabriel’s stomach issues completely disappeared, and his new favorite hobby became hovering around my kitchen, “helping” by taste-testing everything.

My restaurant empire kept growing, but I still insisted on creating every single new recipe myself.

Chapter 8

During a magazine interview, some jackass reporter asked:

“Ms. Stone, would you say your success comes from going from replacement to wife and having your husband’s financial backing?”

He was obviously fishing for drama.

Gabriel’s face went stone-cold and he started moving to shut it down.

But I put a hand on his arm and smiled sweetly at the reporter:

“Nobody’s ever just somebody else’s replacement. My success comes from one thing-I’m a chef who’s damn good at what she does.”
