Since You Chose Your 'Bro' I Married Your Brother novel Chapter 44

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Manhattan’s most eligible bachelor stood up at our wedding reception and announced he was joining a monastery.

Left me standing there in my Vera Wang while three hundred guests pretended not to stare.

The socialites were already taking bets on how fast I’d be back in Kansas, probably working the night shift at whatever truck stop would take me.

Here’s the thing, though.

Damien came home that night. And EVERY night after.

Suddenly Mr. I’m-Too-Holy-For-Sex couldn’t keep his hands off me.

Everyone assumed I’d corrupted their precious saint. That the trashy girl from nowhere had dragged him down from his pedestal.

If only they knew.

One night, I heard voices from his study. The door was cracked open.

“Dude, your wife is adorably clueless. Seven different guys over three years and she hasn’t noticed once. She legitimately thinks you’re just that creative.”

Someone else laughed. “You’re never even home during the day, man. She still makes you dinner. Doesn’t question

shit.”

Damien’s voice cut through, low and amused. “What’d you expect? She’s from some dead-end town in Kansas. Probably thinks Olive Garden is fancy. She has no idea how we do things here.”

“Hey.” That was last night’s guy. I’d know that voice anywhere-he’d been whispering it in my ear for hours. “Don’t talk about her like that. She’s sweet.”

Another voice chimed in. The one from two months ago with the swimmer’s build. “Yeah, seriously. She gave me a neck rub when I said I was sore. She’s actually really thoughtful.”

A pause.

Then Damien, his tone gone cold: “Doesn’t matter. Party’s over. My mother wants a grandkid, so you’re all out.”

I glanced down at the little silk slip I was wearing.

Sighed.

Damien had seven brothers in his crew.

I’d only made it through six.

Turns out rich people in Manhattan are wild.

Wedding night, Damien insisted on lights off-then tied a silk blindfold over my eyes for good measure.

Sent the staff home. My dress ended up in pieces from the front door to the bedroom. Pretty sure we shattered one of his mother’s priceless vases on the way.

Couldn’t see anything in the dark.

But I could feel those abs just fine.

Damn.

“Damien, easy-”

Guy was ripped. Arm locked around me from behind, hand over my mouth, teeth on my shoulder.

Next morning, I personally ended Damien’s whole virgin saint reputation.

Could barely stand. Definitely skipped brunch with his mother.

By afternoon, the entire Upper East Side was convinced I’d corrupted their golden boy.

Overnight, I became the scandal everyone whispered about.

My sister called at 2 AM. “Well?”

I was covering bite marks with concealer. “Seven rounds.”

Thing is, I knew it wasn’t Damien that first night.

After I passed out, he made a call right next to me, fingers tangled in my hair. “Can’t leave. She just fell asleep.”

Beat.

“Relax. Your parents aren’t gonna check.”

Another beat.

“She’s clueless. Didn’t suspect anything.”

When he hung up, I waited a few seconds, then shifted closer. Pretended to be half-asleep. Let my hands explore.

This one couldn’t resist.

And honestly? Not my husband, not my problem. Might as well enjoy it.

Waste not, want not.

Six months in, I got bored.

While he was out of town, I FaceTimed Damien. He ignored me nine times before finally picking up.

“What.” Flat. Cold.

That was real Damien. Couldn’t stand me. Never even visited the beach house.

I bit my lip, voice soft. “Last night you said you’d ruin me. Where are you?”

Leaned back against the pillows, eyes wide. “I’m so sore. These windows face the ocean-think anyone saw?”

Traced my collarbone. “Want you to play piano on my back again. You’re so good at it.”

Damien’s face went dark. “Stop. Don’t say that during the day.”

See? Even he hated his own game.

Didn’t stop me. “You promised. If you don’t come home, I’ll visit your office. I don’t mind your desk. Thirty minutes. Clear your schedule,”

I’d been eyeing the rest of his friends anyway.

Damien said he’d come home tonight.

Of course, Damien himself never would.

Thirty minutes later, the lights went out.

Different guy walked in. Athletic type. Golden retriever energy.

Three years, I cycled through them all.
