Over the weekend, Whitney showed up at the furniture store where she’d agreed to meet Klein.

Klein was dressed casually today, and without his usual sharp suit, he looked way more approachable, especially with those silver–rimmed glasses.

“Klein, the store I bought from before is on the fifth floor.” Whitney said. “Should we head up?”

Klein shook his head. “No rush. Let’s browse our way up, floor by floor.” He nodded toward a nearby shop. “Look, there’s a bed store right there.”

Whitney stared at him with a complicated expression. “You’re changing your bed too?”

“You really think I’d use an old bed as our wedding bed?”

His words made her mouth go dry, and she twitched her lips. “Fine, let’s go look.”

‘He’s paying for everything, and it’s his place anyway,‘ she thought. ‘If he wants to browse, he can browse all he wants.

The sales associate spotted Klein’s expensive casual wear the moment he walked in and rushed over eagerly. “Sir, ma’am, welcome! Are you looking for a bed today? What size do you need? I’d be happy to help you find something.”

The sales associate could tell from his tone that this was going to be a big sale. “Yes, we do! Sir, ma’am, right this way please.

Klein tried it out, and the mattress felt incredible. He looked over at Whitney and gestured to the bed. “Want to give it a try?”

“Alright, I’ll take this one. Let’s pay.”

The sales associate had never seen such a decisive customer, but she still felt obliged to give him a heads–up. “Sir, we can deliver the bed frame quickly. We have it in stock and can install it within a week.

But the mattress needs to be ordered, and it’ll take at least a month to arrive. Also, this particular mattress is 600 thousand dollars. Is that okay with you?”

By the time the sales associate handed over the receipt with a smile, Whitney had finally calmed down.

She gave Klein a long, pointed look. She thought, ‘This man really knows how to burn through money!

Klein remained completely oblivious to the judgment in her eyes. “Let’s go. Second floor.”

Whitney and Klein walked side by side toward the escalator, heading up to the second floor.

“Emily, look over there. Is that Whitney?” Not far away, Tina grabbed Emily’s hand and practically vibrated with excitement.

Emily had invited her out today to shop for home furnishings, and they’d been picking out items for Emily and Carter’s new place

She never expected to run into Whitney here, of all places.

Emily’s brow furrowed slightly. “I think it is her, but Tina, who’s that guy next to your sister?”

He looked vaguely familiar, but Emily couldn’t quite place him.

Tina whipped out her phone with lightning speed and snapped a photo.

She sneered, “I bet that’s her new sugar daddy. Who knows where she dug him up, but he looks like a married man if you ask

She smirked to herself, Finally got some evidence I’m showing this to Dad the second I get home

Emily narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. “You think so? That guy’s got a nice back view though

Those broad shoulders and narrow waist were definitely eye–catching

Tina said, “Emily, don’t let his fancy exterior fool you. Once you see his face, you’ll realize he’s all back–view and no substance. Just because someone dresses young doesn’t mean they are young”

She added, “Trust me, get a look at him from the front and you’ll see–he’s definitely some old creep”

Tina sneered inwardly. Why else would he go for someone like Whitney?‘

Emily wasn’t entirely convinced. Something about that silhouette nagged at her–she felt like she’d seen it before

Come on, Emily, didn’t you say you wanted to check out the beds over there?”

Emily smiled gently, “Right, let’s go then.”

The second Tina got home, she couldn’t wait to call Samuel. “Dad, guess who I saw at the mall today?”

Samuel had just wrapped up a business dinner, and he sat in his car rubbing his temples. “Tina, just get to the point.”

“Dad. I saw Whitney today with her new boyfriend. Some old guy, and honestly, do you really think Whitney’s still going to end up with Carter?”

Samuel’s eyes darkened. “What are you talking about? Explain.”

“I saw Whitney shopping at a furniture store with this older man. He was trying to dress young, wearing casual clothes and everything, but I could tell he was way older just by looking at him.”

Samuel cut her off. “Did you see his face?”

“Well, no, not really, but Dad, I didn’t need to see his face to know how old he was. He’s definitely in his forties, no wait–at least forty–five.” Tina was making things up as she went.

When Samuel didn’t respond, Tina worried he didn’t believe her and rushed to add, “Dad, I took pictures! I’ll send them to you right now. You have to believe me.”

She opened WhatsApp and fired off the photos.

By sheer coincidence, Samuel had heard someone mention at dinner that they had seen Klein at the parking garage that day, wearing casual gray clothes.

His heart pounded as he opened the images, and his eyes went wide.

He recognized Whitney’s silhouette immediately, and the man beside her looked just like Klein.

Did Whitney actually land Klein?’ he thought.

Heat rushed through his chest, and he brushed Tina off with a few quick words. “Alright, Tina, stop obsessing over Whitney’s business And I’m warning you–don’t cause trouble for her. You hear me?”

Tina couldn’t believe it. Even now, Samuel was still taking Whitney’s side

Furious, she hung up on him.

Emily returned to her apartment and thought about it for a minute before deciding to call Carter

She said, “Carter, are you still at the office working late?”

Emily bit her lip, and resentment bloomed in her chest. ‘Does he really hate the idea of marrying me that much?‘ she thought.

Her eyes flashed with something bitter, but her voice stayed soft and sweet. “Carter, I ran into Whitney today when I was shopping with Tina. She was with her boyfriend.”

Carter’s voice shot up. “Boyfriend?”

“Yeah. I—” She made it sound like she’d just realized she said something wrong. “Wait, you didn’t know Whitney’s seeing someone new? Her boyfriend looked kind of old, actually.”

Carter’s breathing got rough and fast. “Milly, I still have work to finish. I need to go.”

He hung up, and his face turned to ice. ‘Whitney’s dating someone?‘ he thought. ‘No way!
