Yolanda's blood type was rare, making it difficult to find a suitable kidney. Besides, with the Rogers family gone, there was no one left to help them.
Yolanda was admitted to the hospital in the morning, but Vincent didn't arrive until that evening.
"Vincent." Upon seeing her husband, Mrs. Walker threw herself into his arms and burst into tears.
"Don't cry just yet. What exactly happened?" Vincent asked, frowning.
"It's Yolanda... there's something wrong with her kidneys. The doctor said her renal function is declining... there's... there might be... renal necrosis..." Mrs. Walker was crying so hard she could barely get the words out.
Vincent's expression darkened as he listened. He patted Mrs. Walker's back, trying to comfort her. "It's just a decline in kidney function. It can be treated slowly. Don't scare yourself."
Losing her composure in a flood of tears, Mrs. Walker blurted out, "But the last time, it started with declining kidney function, and before long, her kidney failed completely. We were lucky Flora was a match then. If her kidney fails again this time, whose are we going to use...?"
"Shut up! This is a hospital! What are you babbling about?" Vincent cut her off harshly before she could finish.
This wasn't the Rogers family's hospital, not a place where they could control everything. If anyone overheard such words, it would mean big trouble.
Mrs. Walker knew she had spoken out of turn and wisely fell silent, though tears continued to stream down her face.
Her crying grated on Vincent's nerves, but he patiently tried to console her. "Don't worry too much. I'll find the best specialists in the country. I'm sure they can treat Yolanda. It won't get so bad that she needs a transplant. You're worrying for nothing."
Mrs. Walker nodded. She also hoped Yolanda's condition could be cured. Otherwise, where would they find another kidney?
"April Martinez and her son were stopped by customs! They've been forbidden from leaving the country!" Vincent said angrily.
Mrs. Walker was stunned into silence. "How could they be forbidden from leaving? Does it have anything to do with us?"
"You'd better hope it has nothing to do with us," Vincent threw back at her before grabbing his coat and storming out of the hospital.
Barred from leaving the country, April had returned to her apartment.
This time, April had left with no intention of ever coming back. The apartment had been cleared out, and the furniture was covered in dust sheets.
