Chapter 111 Mrs. Norwood, Apparently
The three of them practically lived by the calendar once the official cooling–off period had begun. They would count down the days every morning before drawing another circle in the evening.
The three of them even made a bet on how long Evan could hold out. Anya guessed five days; Roxanne said seven; Hazel simply smiled and told them they didn’t know Evan at all. She put her money on him caving within half a month.
However, more than ten days had gone by, and Evan still hadn’t made a move. At this point, even they were starting to panic:
“Hazel, do you think Evan really plans to walk away from us for good?” Roxanne asked, her voice tight with worry.
“That’s impossible.” Hazel sounded certain. “He’s definitely going to regret it and apologize before the cooling–off period ends.

She knew Evan too well. He might look indifferent now, but he’d be more anxious than any of them once the deadline loomed over him.
Anya relaxed a little upon hearing that. She even chortled. “I’m with Hazel on this one. After all, it’s not like he could hide from Mr. Solomon forever. Even if he doesn’t care about us, he has to be wary of him.”
Zeke rolled his eyes. ‘He left ages ago, and you’re still counting down the cooling–off period…‘

Still, he was running low on blood bags and had no time to entertain the heiresses with pointless theories. Instead, he decided to call Evan and lie, saying the ladies had realized their mistakes and wanted him back.
From Zeke’s perspective, Evan had left because they had hurt him. But what if they backed down? Would Evan return?
After Sean left, Evan also wrapped up his visit with Gaius.
Sylvie was in excellent spirits. The fact that Evan had earned the admiration of more and more powerful figures filled her with pride. She had completely slipped into the role of a girlfriend. To her, her partner’s brilliance was her triumph.
That was when Artemisia called, telling him she had mastered the techniques he’d taught her and wanted to come pick him up. Evan agreed.
He smiled to himself. She didn’t have much talent for ancient formulas, but she was surprisingly adept when it came to medicinal herbs.
Medicine encompassed far more than treating illnesses; medicinal alchemy, herb cultivation, and ancient–formula restoration were all parts of the same path.

Compared to the ancient formula, medicinal alchemy and herb cultivation were easier to learn and could still lead her to become a master admired across the world.
Artemisia arrived soon enough.
“Mr. Norwood… Who’s this?”
Alas, the first thing she saw was Sylvie standing beside him.
Sylvie immediately wiped the joy from her face and put on an icy expression when she came face–to–face with a stranger.
“Is she… Mrs. Norwood?” Artemisia asked carefully.
Evan and Sylvie both stiffened. That was especially so when it came to Sylvie as her cool facade shattered before it even lasted a second. That single title froze her in place.
‘She called me Mrs. Norwood?‘ Her eyes lit fiercely before she broke into a delighted smile. “What did you just call me? Say it

again!”
“Mrs. Norwood?” Artemisia repeated without thinking. She knew perfectly well that Sylvie hadn’t liked her since the banquet where she failed to bring Evan along.
Yet, Artemisia’s chosen address for her, Mrs. Norwood, had bridged the gap instantly.
