Chapter 112 Mrs. Norwood’s First Gift
She truly hadn’t expected that simply calling Sylvie “Mrs. Norwood” a few times would come with a cash gift.
“Since we’re officially getting acquainted today, why don’t I give you a medical project? I’m sorry I didn’t prepare anything special,” Sylvie said with a bright smile.
“Huh? A medical project?” Artemisia froze, confused.
A moment later, an assistant stepped forward and handed her a contract. It was classified as something no one in all of Silverton had even heard of. She skimmed through it, and her mind exploded with white noise.
“T–This is… a project from Stanton Group?!” She couldn’t stop herself from blurting it out. Her hands trembled as she held the
contract.
Her breathing turned ragged from excitement, leaving her nearly incoherent. She didn’t yet realize that this project would completely reshape the power structure of Silverton.
“Take it. Think of it as my first gift to you,” Sylvie said, liking Artemisia more and more by the second.
Artemisia’s eyes immediately turned red–rimmed, utterly emotional as she said, “Thank you, Mrs. Norwood… thank you!”
Sylvie beamed. “Say it again. A few more times.”
“Mrs. Norwood, Mrs. Norwood, Mrs. Norwood…”
Every repetition sent Sylvie into another wave of satisfaction.
Evan could only shake his head. ‘Friendships between girls are always formed so inexplicably. But Mrs. Norwood? Seriously? I’m not your mentor, and I’m definitely not Sylvie’s husband. Calling her my missus is simply absurd!‘
Just then, his phone rang. To his surprise, he’d gotten a call from/Zeke.
“What do you want? You must be feeling glad yet disappointed that you didn’t manage to kill me last time, aren’t you?” Evan’s voice instantly cooled. Zeke had tried to have him killed more than once, and he had no intention of letting that go.
‘He must want blood again. I’m the only one who can keep him alive right now. Still, the hundred transfusions are already done. Hazel, what makes you think I’ll keep saving him?‘
“Evan, what are you talking about? When did I ever try to kill you? I’m worried about you!” Zeke protested quickly. He couldn’t admit the truth even if he wanted to.
He forced himself to stay patient. “Evan, you should come home. The girls have realized their mistake. They want to apologize, and they promise to treat you better from now on. And forget about the divorce papers, they’re not going through with it. Let’s all make up,
okay?”
He sounded so earnest that someone who didn’t know him might have been convinced, but Evan nearly burst out laughing.
‘People don’t change their stripes. Hazel apologizing? Pigs would fly before that would ever happen.‘
“Who realized their mistake? Zeke, who are you on the phone with?”
Right on cue, Evan heard Hazel and the others in the background.
“H–Hazel, L… I…” Zeke’s panic came through loud and clear.
“Give me the phone,” Hazel said coldly, holding out her hand.
“Give it to me!”
It was rare that she’d ever raised her voice at Zeke. Nevertheless, her genuine fury left Zeke with no choice but to hand it over. Hazel, don’t be mad. I just saw how worried you all were, so I called him myself and told him you admitted your mistakes…

“I just wanted Evan to come back. That’s all, I swear. I’m sorry…” he babbled.
Hazel’s expression eased a little after hearing his explanation. Alas, her eyes only grew colder.
Roxanne and Anya both sighed. Zeke, we know you meant well, but you can’t call him behind our backs.” “We’ve told you a hundred times not to get involved in Evan’s business. Just focus on recuperating.”
The heiresses always took the same stance when it came to Evan. They wanted to grind him into dust.
They’d lived their whole lives too high above everyone to bow their heads now. Neither of them was fond of showing weakness even once. So, they refused to do it.
They wouldn’t yield even if they needed something from him. After all, they were of the opinion that Evan would take a mile after being given an inch.
Hazel took the phone. There was barely restrained fury lacing her tone as she growled, “Evan, my patience has limits. If you don’t want me to lose it, get back here. Now.”
