Chapter 155 The Same as a Surrender

To Evan’s surprise, Hazel came home.

The shock passed quickly. He steadied himself and returned to his cultivation.

Since he had decided to cut off all ties with Hazel, they would just be strangers in the future.

Seeing her again would not shake him.

However, Stefan and Cynthia were startled. “Hazel, why are you back?”

Hazel had never returned home since Evan left the Solberg Residence.

Out of all days, she actually came back on this day. She even returned with Roxanne and Anya in tow.

“I can’t visit my own home once in a while?” Hazel replied lightly. Then, she noticed her parents’ uneasy expressions. “What is it? You don’t look happy to see me.”

Stefan and Cynthia exchanged a look. After a brief hesitation, they told her the truth-they had brought Evan home.

“What?” Hazel shot to her feet. “You brought him back?”

Cynthia hurried to soothe her. “Don’t get worked up. We’re worried about him. It’s dangerous outside. Mr. Solomon could act at any moment. I made the decision.”

Hazel was so infuriated that she nearly fainted.

“I was wondering why Evan hadn’t bothered us at all at the Nine Courts today. He went after you guys!”

Even Roxanne and Anya were rendered speechless.

They had been seeing Evan around Nine Courts constantly and assumed he was circling, working up the courage to apologize. They themselves had been too proud to soften first.

They were certain he would appear again the next day. But he hadn’t.

In the end, it was because Hazel’s parents brought him back to the Solberg Residence.

Evan was back.

“He must have approached you first, right?”

Hazel was beside herself with anger.

This was definitely Evan’s ploy. She knew her parents would not seek him out.

“No, you’ve misunderstood. Evan didn’t seek us out. We went to him…”

Cynthia added anxiously, “You didn’t see it. He was surrounded by those rich brats in racing cars. His so-called younger brother

the Norwood heir-was there too. We saw it with our own eyes. He’s your husband. How could we not step in?”

Hazel ignored their heartfelt plea and just sighed. “It’s all over. Evan won…”

Roxanne looked quite surprised. “I didn’t think Evan could be that smart. He knew we wouldn’t cave into him, so he just went around us to win over your parents.”

“Don’t speak of it anymore! My parents always felt indebted to him. Now, look what has happened. They definitely brought him back to protect him!”

She felt both frustrated and powerless.

Anya burst out into curses. “Evan is so despicable!”

They had been waiting for hup to apologize. Instead, he returned to Solberg Residence without saying a word to them

Hazel burned with anger. Deep down, she was cursing him out.

Where was his spine? Where was his ego?

Why did he act so very proud in front of them, yet act so weak and feeble before her parents? Roxanne spoke gently, trying to reframe it. “Don’t be upset. Look at it another way. If he had to crawl back through your parents, that just means he’s not that capable. In the end, he still relied on freeloading to survive. That’s practically surrender.”

Upon hearing that, Hazel realized something. “That’s true. Even if he didn’t apologize to us, he went to my parents. That’s the same either way. He surrendered! Now, if we ask him to donate blood to Zeke, he wouldn’t say no anymore.”

Hazel immediately thought of Zeke’s blood supply.

Anya and Roxanne nodded. “That’s right. He chose to give in, so he will donate blood for Zeke. It’s good news for us.”

Evan knew none of what they were thinking.

At that moment, he was entirely focused on his cultivation. His training only ended deep in the night.

By then, Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya had already fallen asleep.

That was when his phone rang. It was Hugo.

“I’ve finished handling my matters,” Hugo said over the phone. “I finally have time to apologize to the Golden family. Should I pay them a visit tomorrow?”
