Chapter 160 The Slaps

Graham stepped forward to help Hugo up.

However, Hugo refused to even budge. “Please slap me,” he insisted. “I came here for that.”

Graham froze in shock once more. He couldn’t even find his voice.

Anya’s eyes went wide. She truly looked like she had seen a ghost.

Evan was right-Hugo actually offered himself up for her father to slap.

This couldn’t be real.

“N-No, Mr. Wells,” Graham stammered. “Please stop joking. Get up.”

He was still too scared to hit Hugo. He was already terrified of the man. After the last banquet, that fear only multiplied.

Who would even dare to slap Hugo?

“No, Mr. Golden, I’m serious. Please hit me already. I’ll stand after you do.”

Who could have ever imagined Hugo would one day be begging with a bitter smile on his lips?

The two of them kept politely arguing for a long time until they were both bowing to each other.

It was an absurd sight to behold.

Anya was even starting to wonder if she was dreaming.

Finally, Hugo flew into a fit of rage. He grabbed Graham’s hand to force a slap, roaring in frustration. “Are you going to hit me or not? If you aren’t, I’ll wipe out the Golden family!”

Graham jumped in fright and reflexively slapped Hugo.

The sound echoed sharply.

The Golden family’s hearts plummeted. They were finished.

However, the rage they expected never showed itself. Instead, Hugo looked relieved. “The slap is done.”

Graham stared blankly at his own hand. The fear he once showed faded, and he tentatively asked, “I’ll be doing it again, okay?”

“Come on. Hurry up!”

Glee shone in Graham’s eyes as he slapped Hugo once more.

Even now, Hugo did not utter a single noise of anger.

Graham thoroughly abandoned his reservations. He went all out with the last slap. He lifted his arm high and put his full weight

into it.

Hugo’s head tilted slightly from the force. His cheek was already swelling. “That felt good!”

After the slaps, Graham felt a sense of satisfaction he had never once felt before.

It was as though the anger and hatred borne from the incident three years ago had all been unleashed in one fell swoop. His entire body tingled with joy.

Hugo’s cheek was swollen from the slaps, but he showed no anger. “You’ve slapped me back, Graham,” he said calmly. “From now on, don’t ever say I owe you anything. We’re even.”

Perhaps it was a trick of his mind, but Graham noticed a vicious glint of murderous rage in Hugo’s eyes.

“Lcourse! Graham replied hastily. The weight he had carried for (tiree years felt lighter.

Meanwhile, Hazel, Roxaïme, and Anya were sIN in shock.

None of this made sense.

Hugo had brought an entire army… just to bow and be slapped.

“Mr. Wells,” Graham asked carefully, curiosity finally overtaking fear, “may I ask why you came to apologize?”

The three women held their breaths in anticipation. They desperately wanted to know the answer too.

After all, it was quite impossible for Hugo to want to be slapped repeatedly.
