Chapter 17 Everyone Wants Him

Perhaps sensing the hostility en Sylvie’s face, Aria glanced at her once and chose to ignore it

She turned back to Evan and spoke calmly, as if the tension in the place didn’t exist.

“Mr. Norwood, the Iron Dragon/spent his life on the battlefield and founded seven elite special units. Dragon’s Breath is one of them. But as missions increased and casualties mounted, the position of chief military physician has remained vacant. I would like to formally invite you to take that role. ”

When she finished, she bent at the waist in a deep, formal bow.

“Well…” Evan hesitated.

He had just cut ties with the Solberg family and hadn’t yet thought about where to go next.

Dragon’s Breath was undoubtedly a powerful backer, but military discipline was ironclad. He wasn’t sure he could adapt.

More importantly, the military was full of watchful eyes. If the secret of his Ninefold Arcane Arts were exposed, the consequences would be disastrous.

“Aria, give it up. Evan isn’t going.” Sylvie stepped in and rejected her outright. “He’s the man I chose. How could he go to the front lines? That’s far too dangerous. He’s already my personal physician.”

“That’s not for you to decide.” Aria smiled faintly. “Defending the country is every hot-blooded man’s dream. Isn’t that right, Mr. Norwood? Besides, the Iron Dragon himself hopes you’ll join Dragon’s Breath.”

To secure Evan, Aria even brought up the Iron Dragon.

Sylvie ground her teeth in anger. Using her grandfather to pressure her was crossing the line.

“Stop making stuff up. The Iron Dragon clearly said Sky Titan!” Before Evan could respond, another voice cut in.

Rapid, uneven footsteps echoed through the corridor. A group of people rushed in.

Some wore special operations gear, their presence fierce and overwhelming.

Sylvie and Aria’s expressions changed at once.

“Victor, I got here first. There’s such a thing as first come, first served,” Aria said coldly, glaring at Victor, the captain of Sky

Titan.

Victor burst out laughing. “Since when does recruiting talent follow that rule?”

He turned to Evan. “Mr. Norwood, I formally invite you to join Sky Titan. All the paperwork is ready. We’re just waiting for your yes.”

Then, almost casually, he added, “On the way here, I learned you offended a powerful figure in Silverton a few years back. I can take care of him for you.”

At Victor’s command, the operators behind him snapped to attention. A wave of killing intent filled the air.

“What do you mean, take care of him?” Aria shot back. “Do you think Dragon’s Breath can’t handle that?”

The soldiers behind her radiated the same terrifying pressure.

The two elite forces immediately clashed.

The man Evan had offended three years ago was once untouchable in Silverton But in the eyes of Aria and Victor, he was insignificant.

“Besides,” Aria added firmly, “I still owe Mr. Norwood a favor.”

She straightened her posture and looked boldly at Evärr. “At the hospital, everyone heard it. If Mr. Norwood could treat the fron Dragon, I would owe him a favor. That favot can be anything”

A collective gasp rippled through the room.

Anything meant no limits. Even Aria herself could be part of the offer.

Evan gave an awkward smile. “A favor? That won be necessary I don’t need repayment.”

“Mr. Norwood!” Aria raised her voice, subtly accentuating her commanding, striking figure “Repaying a favor isn’t about what you want. It’s about what I can give.” 1

The implication couldn’t have been clearer.

Sylvie nearly exploded with anger. This was an open challenge.
