Chapter 18 A Prize No One Could Claim

Everyone cursed Caleb under their breath. The man was shameless he would even use his own daughter to recruit Evan

“Caleb, isn’t that a bit low?” someone sneered. “You’re really offering up your own flesh and blood?”

Another voice joined in.

Every face turned gloomy. No need to ask another person had arrived to steal Evan away.

Amid the crowd gathered around him, Logan Ryder appeared. He was the imperia! physician of Imperia Golden Healing, Chamber. In the world of medicine, he was a towering authority, a living legend.

Under normal circumstances, he never left Imperia.

But the Iron Dragon had defended the nation for thirty years, earning immeasurable merit. Fearing that age had finally taken its toll, the Dragon’s Protectors had assigned Logan to stay by the Iron Dragon’s side and oversee his health.

No one could have imagined that what even Logan could not accomplish had been done by an unknown young man.

Logan’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Young man, are you interested in becoming my disciple?” he asked. “Come study under me and join the Golden Healing Chamber.”

The words hit like a thunderclap. The entire place exploded. Every person present was shocked.

Never had anyone heard of an imperial physician taking a personal student. Yet Logan was breaking precedent for Evan alone.

Aria, Victor, and Caleb all wore grim expressions.

Damn it. How were they supposed to compete with this? There was no competition at all.

Being the disciple of an imperial physician was an offer too tempting to refuse.

Logan smiled warmly at Evan, waiting for his answer.

Aria and the others held their breath, nerves stretched tight.

“Evan…” Even Sylvie looked tense.

It wasn’t that she saw Logan as a rival. Among everyone vying for Evan, the only one she truly regarded as a threat was Aria.

In fact, studying under Logan would be a huge boost to Evan’s future.

But Logan was an imperial physician. If Evan accepted, he would have to go to Imperia with him. That would mean hardly ever seeing Evan again.

That was what made her anxious.

Evan did seem to hesitate, but his hesitation wasn’t about which offer to choose-it was about how to refuse.

Whether it was joining a special forces unit or becoming an imperial physician’s disciple, neither interested him.

He had already stepped onto the path of cultivation. Given enough time, surpassing them whether in strength or in medicine –was only a matter of time.

“I’m sorry, Dr. Ryder.” In the end, Evan let out a soft sigh and declined politely. “My lite is a mess right now. I don’t even know where I’m headed next. I can’t devote myself fully to medicine.”

A collective breath was released. Hearing Evan’s refusal, everyone felt an overwhelming sense of relief.

But along with that relief came shock. He actually refused the chance to become an imperial physician’s disciple.

If this ever put out, it would shake the entire medical world of Dragafrie. An unprecedented offer rejected.

Regret flickered across Logan’s face, but tre did not press the mafter. Instead, his gaze toward Evan held even greater

admiration.

“A young man who can remain unmoved by overwhelming fortune-rare indeed,” Logan sard with a smile. “Very well. Everyone has their own path. If you ever change your mind, come find me. My door will always be opení.”

He handed Evan his business card, then turned and led his people away.

“Mr. Norwood, come to Dragon’s Breath!”

“Sky Titan needs you more!”

“Mr. Norwood, my daughter is very beautiful!”

With Logan gone, the remaining three immediately threw themselves into the scramble for Evan.

Now that the one they could never compete with had left, the pressure was gone, and the arguments erupted all at once.
