Chapter 14 Muving in With Sylvie

As expected, Sylvie found Evag at Port Silver

The winds were fierce, making Evan’s clothes snap in the air. However, his silhouette appeared even more frail and thin.

“Evan.”

Sylvie softly called out to him as she walked over to stand beside him, staring out at the water with him.

Evan was surprised. “Ms. Stanton, how did you find me?”

She chuckled, gracefully tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. “If I truly wish to, I will always find what I want. That’s just the kind of magic I have.”

In reality, she had secretly investigated Evan. Port Silver was where Hazel and the others rescued him.

Hence, this port was special to him. Every time he felt confused and lost, he could be found there.

It was the first time he had ever been found at the port, though. An unfamiliar feeling rose in him at that thought.

“It’s nothing much,” Sylvie abruptly stated.

“What?” Evan’s mind was blank in shock.

“Compared to death, everything else is no big deal. We meet many people in our lives. Can you always be sure that every person you encounter would be right for you?” she continued.

“It’s more tragic to never see another again than to meet someone who’d bring you sorrow. Every day, you’d be stuck in a cold and lonely bed, watching the days tick away as you count down to your death. That’s the life I have.”

She then solemnly said, “Only a rare few know about my illness. Everyone is envious of my beauty and my powerful and rich family. However, no one knows that I’m just a dying woman.

“I’ve tried to fight my fate. I did my best. I don’t want to die! Still, nothing worked. Nothing until I met you, Evan.”

Her eyes lit up as she gazed at him. “You made me see the hope that came from living. Do you know how that feels? In my dark world, there was a sudden burst of light. As I was falling off the cliff, someone reached out and pulled me back. Even without that prophecy, I would’ve still married you.”

Her bold confession made his eyes dart around, unsure of what was safe to look at.

It was impossible to say it did not incite complicated feelings in hirn.

However, he still rejected her. “I’m sorry. I’m currently not fit to enjoy life by another person’s side…”

“Is that so?”

The look in her eyes instantly faded.

“Once life is more stable, I can slowly learn to accept everything…”

Before Sylvie could drown in her disappointment, Evan spoke up once more.

In an instant, her eyes went wide, gleaming with joy. “I’ll wait!”

Without a pause, she continued, “You’re the best, Evan! Those three will regret this. I’m sure of it.”

He let out a bitter chuckle. “It doesn’t matter if they’ll regret it later. It’s all in the past.”

“What do you plan to do next, Evan?” Sylvie asked in response.
