Chapter 199 Darius’ Conjecture
The Norwoods’ expressions fell.
“Yeah, he doesn’t have the power or connections to get the evidence! He must’ve had help!”
The Norwoods’ faces fell. Fear and terror had overwhelmed them when Evan produced the evidence. Now that they were safe, they realized that someone must’ve helped Evan procure the evidence. He couldn’t have found it himself.
Not even the Norwoods could find that kind of evidence! So, who was the one who provided help? The Norwoods had a feeling that an invisible force was pushing the whole case forward. They had to find the mastermind, or they would never rest easy.
Someone spoke. “I know who it is!”
Everyone turned and laid their eyes on Darius. James and the others were surprised. “You do?”
Darius nodded darkly. “It has to be my competitors.” He let out a long sigh.
James and the sisters were stunned. “Your competitors? But you’ve ruled them out.”
“Yeah, you think they’re beneath you!”
They had that discussion after the last dinner. In the end, they ruled it out as the Norwoods had risen to a league beyond theirs after Darius sold the gemstone. Now they were reconsidering their decision.
“Not before, but now?” Darius said nothing more. He slowly took his phone out and showed everyone the messages that he’d received thus far. He’d gotten insulting and mocking texts. Some had even made it clear that he’d never make a comeback.
All their demons were crawling out of the woodwork now that the Norwoods were disgraced.
“But that doesn’t mean anything. They could be just following the trend.” Colette smiled.
Suddenly, someone smashed the house’s windows. The loud crash made everyone jump.
Then, they heard groans coming from outside.
“What’s going on?” Darius and the others went to check it out, but what they saw shocked them. The Norwoods’ branch families’ members were lying in a pool of their own blood, their bodies covered in slash wounds.
Finally, their eyes fell upon armed, burly strangers who were standing at the entrance.
James roared, “Who are you? How dare you attack my family!”
The strangers sneered. “Don’t act like you’re important when the Norwoods are nothing but rats. Someone paid us to teach you a lesson! Don’t worry, this isn’t the last time you’ll see us!” Then, they left.
Darius took a deep breath. His gaze was cold. “Now, do you believe me? My competitors are attacking me. They’ve been trying to take me down. They even allied with each other just to make that happen. They must’ve collected the evidence. All that, just to take me down.”
James and the others had no choice but to believe Darius. So, they now figured that Evan had used the Norwoods’ competitors to take them down.

Frankly, it made sense as it would explain why he stayed at the estate. He wanted to present the evidence when Cain showed up. They had been set up.
“That ingrate! We raised him, and he worked with our enemies to take us down!” James was livid.
“I told you this would happen, but none of you listened! He’s been biding his time! He didn’t call us for three years, just to hit us where it hurts! He ruined us!”
