Sorry Too Late (by J.J. Twelve) novel Chapter 21

Chapter 21 Fury Caused by Change

Evan never thought he would bump into Hazel and the others at the Nine Courts

He assumed that after cutting offcontact, the next time he saw Hazel would be at the doors of the courthouse.

However, he was not focused on Hazel’s presence. Instead, he stared straight ahead at the wall.

What he heard confused him. Why could he hear every word being said by Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya when they were more than 300 feet away from him?

This had never happened before.

“Is it because of my training in the Ninefold Arcane Arts?”

Evan’s face twisted in surprise.

While he had not properly started training in the Ninefold Arcane Arts, he had already started feeling some changes.

Not only could he hear ants fighting now, but his vision had also grown extra sharp.

At that thought, he calmed down and tried to stretch his hearing even further.

“Hazel, Roxanne, Anya, you’ve really gone all out. You can’t even bring yourselves to buy a villa in Nine Courts, right? Still, you’ve splurged out on a rental for me…”

Zeke spoke with a touch of emotion.

“It’s what should be done. Didn’t the doctor say that you need proper rest and treatment to recover? A good space for recovery makes everything much easier! The air here is so clean and fresh. There’s no better place in Silverton!”

That was Roxanne’s voice.

“It’s all thanks to Anya. She pestered her father until he helped us ask the villa’s owner to give us the villa. The Goldens made sacrifices in their partnership with the owner.”

Hazel smiled as she said that.

Evan let out a scoff upon hearing that.

‘You really will do anything for your Zeke…’

They could not even bring themselves to buy a Nine Courts villa, yet they would pay a huge price just for Zeke.

It also proved that there was no price they could not pay.

It was only a matter of love!

“I wanted my father to contact the owner of Villa No. 1, the crown jewel. However, we were told the owner had abruptly changed.

What Anya said made Evan’s heart skip.

Was he not currently staying in Villa No. 1?

“The original owner was forced to sell the villa at three times the original price! What a terrifying new owner.”

Anya’s voice was filled with awe and shock.

Hazel and the rest felt chills running down their spines.

How rich could such a person be?

Everyone was now inadvertently curious about Villa No. 1

“Villa No. 1 was bought at the last minute by Ms. Stanton. Maybe she even bought it just for me…”

At that thought, warmth filled his heart.

He put all thoughts of Hazel and the others out of his mind and focused on cultivating the Ninefold Arcane Arts by the hillside

He cultivated until the evening before returning to the villa, covered in dirt and sweat.

By chance, he bumped into Hazel, Roxanne, Anya, and Zeke on their walk.

“Huh? Evan?”

“Why is he here?”

Everyone, including Zeke, was shocked to see him.

They could never have imagined bumping into Evan here.

Was this a place he should be?

“Of course, he followed us here!”

Realization struck Anya, and her face turned cold. “Hazel, you’re right. All that talk about important matters to do is just a lie!

“Perhaps, he had been secretly watching us since leaving your home. After all, he followed us here.”

Anya grew angrier as she spoke.

Frigid looks were painted on Hazel and Roxanne’s faces too.

Evan could only be in Nine Courts because he was stalking them.

“Look at his outfit and hair!”

Roxanne was a keen observer, so she instantly noticed Evan’s changes.

As soon as she pointed that out, Anya and Hazel noticed the same thing.

Shock covered their faces.

Evan was no longer wearing the clothes they had assigned to him. He even changed his hairstyle!

They could barely recognize him.
