Chapter 254 A Secret Worth Killing For

Chapter 254 A Secret Worth Killing For

“Don’t celebrate too soon!” Gabriel’s voice rang out again before anyone could count their lucky stars.

He had taken a few steps before coming to a halt. He had his back to them, so none of them could see that his face was twisted into a sinister grin. He looked like something out of a nightmare.

“I’ll acknowledge him as the adopted son of the Solberg family. But there’s no way he’s staying with you forever. Just wait. The moment I get a chance…”

Anyone could feel it. His anger was building, little by little.

He did not believe that Evan could remain tied to the Solberg family for good.

For starters, Hazel and Evan were divorced. So, there was no way they could still live under the same roof. Wouldn’t that be awkward for them both?

Gabriel knew that he would get his chance as long as he stayed patient. And when it did, he would make sure Evan paid dearly.

After Gabriel and his group left, the ones left completely dumbfounded were the Norwoods.

They had come in full force, eager to witness Evan being dealt with by Cain after the divorce.

Alas, nothing happened. There was no reckoning at all because that worm was still part of the Solberg family. It infuriated them to no end.

The Norwoods stormed off, seething with anger.

Meanwhile, Stefan took the still-unconscious Cynthia home.

Hazel tried to follow, but Stefan shot her a glare.

“Don’t follow us.”

He had said that partly because he was still furious, and partly because what he wanted to say next was only for Cynthia’s ears.

The moment Cynthia woke up, she demanded, “Where’s Evan? Is he okay?”

Stefan quickly reassured her. “He’s fine. Mr. Gabriel didn’t lay a hand on him…”

Only after hearing the full story did Cynthia finally let out a long breath of relief.

Unfortunately, her expression sank almost immediately after.

“Stefan… you used his status as an adopted son to save his life, but you and I both know that Evan has already cut ties with us long ago… We can hide this temporarily, but not forever. Mr. Solomon will find out sooner or later…”

Stefan let out a heavy sigh, his expression complicated. “That’s exactly what I need to discuss with you next. We cannot let Mr. Solomon discover that Evan already severed ties with us… We’ll have to keep that fact hidden for as long as we possibly can.”

They had resorted to every possible means just to ensure that Evan lived.

Alas, the divorce still happened.

Fortunately, the marriage had only been a formality. The thing that truly saved his life was his identity as the

adopted son of the Solberg family.

And that secret hadn’t been exposed yet.

They summoned the butler, Neil, who also knew the truth about the severed ties. Then, they warned him that he had to keep this secret, no matter what.

He was not to breathe a word about this, even if the Solberg family’s foundation began to crumble.

Neil agreed, but couldn’t resist raising a question. “But what about Ms. Solberg-”

Stefan’s gaze sharpened as he cut him off, saying sternly, “She doesn’t need to know either.”

Aside from Evan himself, only the three of them knew about the severed ties.

There would not be a fifth, especially not their daughter.

Not far from the courthouse, Evan was just about to leave now that the papers were finally processed.

A sudden rumble filled the air.

He turned and froze.

A swarm of wealthy young women in wedding gowns came charging toward him as though their lives depended on it.
